Here is the install of aFe's Stage 2 Intake (PN 54-11622) and Throttle Body Spacer, TBS (PN 46-33002). The aFe Stage 2 cold air intake claims to produce 14hp and 23lbs ft. of torque and outflows the factory intake by 35%...... Not really sure if thats true but it did help my mileage by 1.5 and the truck was more responisve.

As for the TBS it creates turbulence in air flow at the point just prior entry into the engine. This turbulence helps the air/fuel charge burn completely for increased horsepower, torque and throttle response......not really sure about all that either, but it does sound cool

Here is pic of the stock intake

You'll need just basic tools.......flat head screw driver and your choice of sockets or wrenches but you'll need 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, and 13mm for this job. Everthing is pretty straight forward and easy to remove, making it very easy for even the most novice do-it-youselfer

Side note, I've had problems with the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor ******** up before with my other trucks so I always go out and by better screws and black silicone for a better seal

The TBS goes between the actual intake manifold and throttle body as seen here, it just as simple as un-bolting the four bolts, sliding in the TBS, and then using the 4 longer bolts provided, be sure to look for the inlet and outlet side on the TBS, meaning the sticker will be upside down.....

Then its just a matter of bolting on the intake which again is very easy and pretty much straight forward, here are some pics of the finished product

Great explanation. Threads like this are invaluable to those with less mechanical experience than a guy like you when deciding whether or not they're capable of undertaking a DIY job like this on something they've never done before.

I've heard a lot of mixed reviews on Throttle Body Spacers. Some seem to think they add power, where I've also seen some pretty educated retorts from people that claim they are Snake Oil. The concept of swirling air in the spacer makes sense to me, but I'm not qualified to gauge the results by anything other than driver feel. They definitely do add an interesting sound to the ol' vroom vroom though.

What's your take on that debate?

Well I wouldn't call it Snake Oil per say, because there are dyno charts to show it does give you a couple extra HP, but is it enough for the "butt dyno"? Hell no, your not going to feel anything with just the TBS added, but for less and a bill, its a cheap mod that really does sound cool with a cold air intake, which is the only reason I got it.........but to each their own

Great write up RaptorGuy!!!! I am ready for them to come out with some stuff for the 6.2. I want to do this and add exhaust and possibly a programmer.

Nice write up Raptorguy21. I have the same CAI and I had a problem where the pipe that goes into the angled sleeve/coupling near the filter was to long and it disrupted the air flow so I trimed it back about an inch and it runs fine now.
I have the Dry S filter on mine.

Raptorguy21 So how long have you had your CAI? Have you had any problems with it yet? With mine when I would step on it hard it would take off like a bat outta hell but once it would goto shift into 2nd it would like lose power for a couple of seconds until I trimmed back the pipe then now it works fine.

Sorry to hear about your problems Ironman. I've been running my CAI for over 9 months without a single problem.......I've been very, very pleased

Well I'm glad someone got a good one..lol
Does your TBS snug up against that reservoir like mine or does yours have more clearance compaired to mine.
