Do you think I need to pay ‘mechanical breakdown agreement’?

Hello.
I am excited and also little frustrated. I purchased 2020 raptor 2 1/2 weeks ago. I am dealing with dealer where made me feel like they ripped off me.

I paid $5,999 maintenance and $8,999 mechanical breakdown agreement which was such as Raptor’s only warranty. Do I need these?

Because bad experience with dealer I feel like I paid what I don’t have to.
I know it is all about peace in your mind if I could afford it but I do not want to pay these sales people at all.

What was your out the door price after all of that was added? It sounds like a scam based on your description. Is it possible to post up your paperwork with redacted personal details?

I bought mine last month and they tried to sell me a maintenance and extended warranty contract. $6k sounds about right for the top tier package, I didn't really pay attention. I bought nothing but the truck from the dealer. Mine came with a warranty from Ford. They all do. Sounds like you got ripped off.

#1. What company is the plan through? Ford or aftermarket?

#2. What is included in each plan?

It sounds like the dealer finance manager may have had a field day, but we won't know until we have more details.

Sound like the guys at San Tan Ford (I can read the plate frame) ***** you using the entire truck, hopefully they lubed up the fenders first. All new trucks come with the Ford new vehicle 3/36 bumper to bumper and 5/60 powertrain warranty, if you believe you had to buy the warranty to have anything THEY LIED TO YOU. I was pricing out the 8 year/125K ($50 deductible) and 8/125K prepaid maintenance options from Flood Ford online, cost for both plans is just over $5,000. Sounds like you overpaid by $10K?! Read your paperwork carefully, you might have 30 days to cancel. You might want to contact the State Attorney General's office or contact an attorney.

Shit like this gives dealers a bad name. I work in the industry as a consultant and shit like this makes my blood boil. I couldn't ever enjoy that truck knowing that I got ****** so hard by dealership thievery, I would get a serious case of sore ass every time I sat in it. I test drove a Raptor there last month and did feel like I needed a shower afterwards. They weren't budging off MSRP for the truck I was looking at.

The truck looks like an 802A, so MSRP probably $70-72K. With the ****** battery and our high sales tax rate I'd guess the out the door price was $93K with tags. It should've been about $78K plus the $5K for 8/125 warranty and maintenance from Flood Ford.

Thank you for the opinions. It was not good experience at all even though I love this truck. It stared with not being clear with information and dishonesty.
They played with me over price started $767 went up to $1000 and came back down to $838 for 84 months on top of $36,000 trade in and $9,500 down payment. Window sticker was $74,000 and charged $8,000 for 37’ tire upgrade which was another thing that they screwed me up. It was nitto 37’ tires, method wheels and rpg 3’ leveling kit. I told them it’s to much that they are charging. They told me they would help me out which Was $2,000 more on trade in. I felt they were laughing at me as I was driving out of dealership. There was $1,900 wheel upgrades came with sticker. I asked them at least give me those wheels and tires or credit and they told me it was credit to 37’ upgrades. So it was $9,900 total which made me sick to my stomach. I complained but noting happened. Any way I am going to cancel those maintenance $6,000 and extended warranty $9,000 tomorrow. thank you guys. It is too expensive lesson for me but I still love my truck.

I’m sorry you had that experience. Yes, you got taken to the cleaners. On any vehicle purchase you need to be ready to walk away if things go sideways.

Check out Flood Ford for the warranty and maintenance plans. They are selling the Ford plans, so you can take your truck somewhere other than San Tan Ford. Try Chapman Ford in Scottsdale, ask for Candice as your writer, she is a friend of mine and good people.

Let me dissect this, please check your paperwork and let me know how I did.

$74,000 MSRP
$8,000 accessories
$4320 Sales tax on $48K at 9%
$1100 AZ License tax
$500 Dealer doc fee
$5,999 extended warranty
$8,999 maintenance plan
-$36,000 Trade
-$9,500 Down payment
$57,418 out the door.

At 4% for 84 months this would be a $785 monthly payment. To get to your $838 monthly payment the rate would have to be 5.98%. With this rate you’re going to pay another $13K in interest over the life of the loan. Drop the warranty and maintenance plans and refinance the truck through another lender at under 4%. Your loan should be around $42,420 and at 3.8% your 72 month payment should be $660. This would get your total interest paid down to just over $5K. At the 2.29% Navy Federal is offering your payment could be $631 if you qualify for membership. My old man was in the Navy, so I have access to USAA and Navy Federal.

The other concern I have for you is are those 37’s going to rub when you try to use the Raptor offroad. If they installed a RPG collar on the shock, left the rear stock, and those Methods are 0 offset, I see bad things happening at full compression. I don’t know what the dealer’s liability may be for that damage, or if they have any at all. You should probably stop by SDHQ and ask those guys to check the setup and see what they think. You may end up needing different coils and Deaver +3 springs to run those tires safely, even then the 0 offset wheels may still cause it to rub.

Nice breakdown. As far as the 37" tire "upgrade" rubbing, I'm sure San Tan will either try and bill out any issues under Ford warranty to cover their tracks and cost or refer him to the manufacturer of the lift. Any dealer that modifies brand new trucks with lifts, wheel/tire packages, electronics, etc is only doing it to pad their bottom line; it's completely unethical and downright criminal in many cases. All of the Shelby, Rocky Ridge, Tuscany, SCA Performance "upgrades" that dealers have installed on new trucks are all complete trash; they do it make the sale and bolster profit margin, not because they're legitimate upgrades. In all cases, they're detrimental to their vehicle's performance, durability, longevity, and factory warranty coverage.

As far as the cost of OP's truck, I totaled is up this way:

Payment: $838 x 84 months = $70,392
Trade in: $36,000
Down Payment: $9500

Total cost: $115,892

My total number comes out at $115,918, so we’re pretty damn close. My Scab 802A (MSRP $66445, invoice +$1000 $63022) will be under $80K with 8/125 warranty and maintenance plan.
