Is it possible to drill into bed or the bed wall to add more convenient tie-down points or d-rings?

I just moved a bike for a friend a few weeks ago and I had to get use a screwdriver to get them started to move.

Maybe your friend should start his bikes more often.

No, I did not go for stainless, but I do hit them with white lithium grease periodically.

the Ring clip rail like Cigarpundit posted - is a great option in the bed. I added those to mine as well. nice to be able to add a connection point wherever you need, when you need.

to add connection points to the inside of the bed, Rivet Nuts are great, if you have a Rivet nut tool:
this is what I used:

This is what I did. I have a bunch of rings for it and I find it really useful to have a way to tie down to the floor of the bed. The rails are flush with the ridges in the bed, you can put the rings anywhere, and they are very stout.

I did the same, only I added one in the middle of the bed to help with tying down items that only take half the bed width like coolers and recovery gear boxes. It has held up well for over 5 years other than the paint wearing off them.

Same as well. Except I added the 4 rail to the upper portion of the bulk head.
