I have been rolling the MPT tune since 9/2018 on my 2017. I have been incredibly happy with the tune. Had a leaky oil pan and went back to stock for a week or so prior to going in for service - hated it. Stock the truck is lethargic, shifting logic silly (not sure why I should be in 10th gear at 40mph), and I get frustrated with the Start/Stop feature being reactivated from not having the tune. Once the tune went back on I loved the truck again.

Got the Cam Phaser noise so back to stock for a week or so to make sure the truck has some starts on the ECU in stock form. The Cam Phaser replacement required a PCM reprogramming from Ford. The new PCM programming means needing an update with MPT to get a new stock file and rewrite all tunes. They were awesome to work with and within a couple days had my new stock file and all tunes back in hand.

Loaded up the 91prx today. The updated tune is even better than before. Shifting is buttery smooth and the power is still awesome. The new tunes are crazy good.

I know there are multiple tunes out there right now - I cant recommend MPT enough. I am not one to fiddle with things like this. The ability to plug this in, load the tune, unplug it an go is great. Furthermore, the ability to go back to stock is critical for me.

If your on the fence - give MPT a try. Lots of happy users on here and their latest tunes are incredible.

Agreed. $25 for the updated tune and some fine tuning in the shift points and it’s fantastic.

How did you get warranty work done when a tune immediately voids your warranty? According to some members here...

I ripped the tag off my bed mattress too. I’m a rebel!

I’m not a warranty expert but my understanding is it CAN void your warranty.

A couple of caveats. The presence of the tune would have to be reasonably a contributor to the failure. Example a broken sunroof clip couldn’t be attributed to a tune so that couldn’t be denied. Secondly they have to find the tune. I always return my truck to stock well before any repairs. I don’t have any gauges running or anything to indicate there is a tune. I have read here that the dealer would be able to find the tune because if they looked hard enough they would see that my truck has 35k miles but only 25 starts in the ecu leading them to believe something is going on.

Reality is it’s a risk. I purchased 7yr/100k ESP showing I’m not too concerned about it yet it’s in the back of my mind anytime I take it in. I wouldn’t purchase any tune that didn’t allow the truck to be put back into stock programming prior to taking it in. I have had the oil pan resealed (plastic during my year) and the Cam Phasers replace which is a big job including the PCM reprogram as mentioned. I feel pretty good about continuing with the tune on the truck using my return to stock methodology.

Drivability and enjoyment of the truck is so much better with the tune I can’t describe it. Not exaggerating when I say I dislike driving it without the tune on. Using the truck in stock form to me is like clocking in and out of a job just trying to get the start cycles built up. As previously said; I’m not a gear head that messes with everything they have but the tune for this truck was to compelling for the price for me. I’m so glad I did it.

I'm curious. If you already have a tune do you have the ability to save it? Can you switch between stock tune, old new and the new MPT tune?

I'm with you, man. I'm running a Cobb Stage 2 w/ TCM. My point is that there is a lot of bad info on this forum regarding tunes and warranty. Your experience proves it.

Thanks for the update BendSprinter. I've been looking at a tuner and found a lot of good feedback on this forum regarding MPT. I do have a question for you, what interface device are you using to load the tune and does it require constant connection? I've looked at MPT's website and it appears you have 2 options - Cobb and NGauge. I'm not necessarily a fan of having to mount anything inside my cab permanently. I had a Livernois tuner on my 2013 and it was fairly straight forward... Connect, load tune, disconnect.
