Will the 2.5 Fiberwerx get you there alone on the Gen 1?

Looking for more after taking it hard off-road for the first time. What’s the best way to get more without spending 30k right away?

Looking to make this a Mid/Long travel project long term but looking for a little more for the next adventure.

Thanks

well as i have done business with them, i think its only fair to share my experience. while i dont like saying bad things about another company, you should know what may or may not happen for you. i had a customer who wanted to get wider flares so i contacted fiberwerx and bought a set for my customer. i picked them up and drove them to colorado for my customer as i was headed on a road trip and the delay on receiving them timed with my trip. the customer had to take his truck from our shop before the parts arrived so instead of heading east like i normally do, i drove 9 hours south to pick these up and deliver to my customer in colorado which was also an additional 4 hour detour. my customer still had his truck in the shop getting modifications done in colorado and wanted to put these on once his truck was done. upon installing these, they did not fit, mounting holes did not line up and the shape was completely off. as we work with fiberglass almost on a daily basis, i could tell right away that something was wrong with the mold they laid it in, or they pulled out of the mold before the fiberglass fully cured. regardless the customer contacted me saying the fenders dont fit and sent me pictures. i immediately refunded the customer the money he paid me while his truck was at our shop. i contacted fiberwerx and found out they have a 10 day return policy. after that you are out of luck. since our customer had his truck in the shop for about 3 weeks after i dropped off the fenders, there was nothing fiberwerx would do for me. so in the end, it was a product that didnt not fit in even the slightest, and i was out $1600 or whatver it was for these fenders since i immediately tried to make it right for my customer. take it for what its worth, but my experience as a business doing business with another company, i can not recommend them. both for their fitment issues, and their lack of customer service.

All feedback is good feedback. In no way do I have to have fiberwerx per se, just looking for the space to fit 37’s if possible. Haven’t heard of anyone else regularly that has the 2.5 flares other than them.

Again, if if anyone knows if the additional 2.5 will let the 37’s run free without further modifications - initially at least - please let me know.

thanks!

You'll still need to modify the fender wells more or less the same way regardless of going with new fiberglass. Its really just about the look you are going for.

I have adv fenders and liners on 37 grabber X3s. If I were to do it again, I'd probably just do the pinch welds first and run the bfg 37s with stock body panels. Nothing wrong with them but I prefer factory fit and finish and it still rubs under full compression

Looked a little further into this; so Fiberwex (or whomever, I am assuming it’s the same across the board) says that 37’s can be achieved with their kit with AFTERMARKET wheels.

I remember hearing something like this in a video once. Apparently the 0mm offset isn’t enough and other wheels with a greater (or is it lesser?) offset will be required.

I love the factory beadlock capables I have; could I just add a spacer? Is that going to put more stress than optimal if I go hard off road? I would assume yes but I also like my look now and if I don’t have to spend more on wheels I don’t really want then I’d do that.

If you have stock wheels with 37s and stock fenders you don't need to do anything else. Yes, I know everyone says they trim a ton well i didn't trim anything and I send it very hard off road. I have jumped it and fully compressed without issue. The only thing is when you fully compress you cant have the wheels turned much. They need to be pointed strait. I have been doing this on stock shocks as well as my new fox 3.0s. Still never had issues on stock setup. Just do it man. And if it breaks your fender then get new ones.

I've been running factory beadlocks with 1.5in spacers for 2 yrs now with a bunch of offroad miles/ jumps/etc. You need to trim the tip of the stud a little (3-5mm) because the beadlock wheels don't have any relief pockets on the mounting face. You wont get anywhere near the threads for the stud. Takes like 10 min with a flap wheel. Check clearance with your spacer before mounting your wheels.

Stress-wise its probably a little more than methods because the effective offset will be a little bit lower but not much. Bearings might wear out faster than stock offset but probably similar to the equivalent offset wheel. Bolt on spacers work.

The only issue I've been having is now (2 yrs later) the studs on the spacers (bora) are getting some corrosion and a couple of the lug nuts have gotten stuck. All were removable with a breaker bar but still annoying. This wouldn't have affected changing a flat roadside

This is the validation I was looking for! Haha!

I guess this is true. I was going to do fiberwerx anyway so...

Also, you need to be at least on mid perch. And for what its worth, I am running 37x12.50R17 BFG KM3s. I never even did the pinch weld. Unnecessary. It is a little bit scary the first time off roading hard with the 37s but then you will quickly realize its all good. Now if you were running offset wheels it would be an issue. Also, I have not tried off roading with my swat bar disconnected. This might lead to fender damage fyi. The main reason I dont disconnect it is because my power steering gets too hot without it. The added articulation makes it more difficult for the steering to operate.
