What?? You can adjust the trail cruise control?? I thought it had to always be at 60! So that’s why I kept catching air...

In all seriousness, I had it sat at 1MPH and it still does it. I also tried higher with no luck. If there’s a large rock or big shelf to go up on, it continues to increase throttle until it can climb. However, that amount of throttle is way too much once on top of the rock or dropping off the backside. Therefore, left door braking was key. They typically use PID controllers which aren’t tuned to respond rapidly enough for a sudden drop.

They are venomrex with the OE tire size.

Agreed! It’s nice to know the truck can rock crawl but high speed is so much more fun!

I think you’d have better luck left foot braking. Left door braking isn’t recommended unless it’s a Flintstone Mobile. ;)

It’s a new technique I’m developing where you open the left door to catch on trees and stuff to slow your travel. Don’t want to wear those brakes out too soon! o_O

They look like my Bronze VR-602’s.

You’re right, that’s what they are.

The running boards are cast AL...I sold some of the metal to make em ;-)

they’re definitely rugged but not structural support for a 5500 lb truck- FYI- they can crack easier than they’ll bend

cool vid

Thanks for all the feedback guys! I have one more question. I’m really considering trading for a super duty powerstroke Tremor and adding a Carli suspension. This would give me plenty of payload margin and the option to tow. Do you guys think what you see in the video would be possible in that setup? I have zero plans for doing anything more tough than this...

I really like this setup but I have zero experience with HD trucks so I wanted to get some expert opinions.

My brother purchased a 2020 f250 lariat tremor with the new 7.3, he's very pleased with it. I'm looking forward to going from a 2500 truck back to a half ton with my Raptor purchase, my older 2500 rides hard.

I tried trail control on baby head sized rocks. I didn’t like it either up or down as it tended to surge annoyingly. On the up it struggled to modulate the throttle smoothly and on the down it kept pumping the brakes where I would just let the gearing hold it back. I was able to drive much more smoothly on my own.
