Has anyone wired their vhf radio to the center speaker?

I have the external speaker that I was going to use but Im curious if wiring it up to the center speaker would be the same output

I’m sure it’s possible, that speaker is pretty worthless for the sound stage, and if you do an audio upgrade it won’t get used.

I did it.
Aux switch to trigger 3 relays
1 Power for radio
1 speaker negative
1 speaker positive

Switch off, speaker works normally.
Switch on, radio on and center channel is dedicated to vhf with independent volume control. Stereo obviously still works as normal.

There’s a pop in speaker when relays trigger that I’m sure could be suppressed or eliminated with additional effort.

just disconnect the center speaker from the sound system altogether. we did this a lot many years ago for all the gen 1 guys. you dont miss the center speaker. same goes for the gen 2 trucks

isn't the center speaker what the nav audio plays through? I thought the system drops the volume on all speakers and the Nav system only uses the center?

yes and no. the nav and bluetooth plays through the front stage. so while there is sound coming from the center speaker, it is also coming through the door speakers and pillar tweeters

I'm planning on using a 3.5mm to Bluetooth adaptor so I can play the radio over all the speakers. Cheap $20-$30 and easy, and should be better quality than the little radio speakers. Only downside is I'm not sure you can listen to music and radio at the same time.
