I used 4 per side... I didnt go into the metal I found all the spots that I could get just the plastic... I drilled a pre hole screwed them in.. they seem to be on quite tight...

4 will be good. i used 3, no issues. plus my screws are only 3/4" so they didn't hit the fender.

Ok, I've been eyeballing this mod but I gotta tell you that when I look at spray pattern down the side of the truck, from salt, snow etc., I'm having a hard time seeing anything blocking debris off the tires. But, you guys seem to think they work pretty good?? :hmm:

you still get some residual spray from the tire sidewalls and outer treads when you turn the tires(ends up on the rear fender) but the flying chunks o' shit stay away. like IRONMAN said in another post...the snow would literally fly up and get on the door handles and stuff...now it doesn't.

They are much smaller that the 7's... Didnt like em at all

Autozone here said that their headquarters "recalled" their mud deflectors, so they aren't carrying them now. Found 'em at Pep Boys, but the first store didn't have the #7 in stock, tried the #8 as that was recommended for the Raptor. Don't get them, they are exactly short enough to not block anything from the wheels whatsoever. (and they are too narrow).

Replaced them with the #7 which are a couple inches longer and wide enough to at least line up with the outside of the tread with the wheels straight ahead.

Going through a dry spell here now, but as soon as we get some snow, I'll post a pic of the spray pattern. I'll be happy if they keep the door handles clear.
