They do work well. If you’re looking for the ability to quickly go from amber to clear and back again, clear lenses with the amber rock guards would be our recommendation. Definitely a setup we sell often and run on our own vehicles as well.

The amber lenses will be better, because it's less plastic the light shines through. If you put amber covers on you're now shining light through 2 pieces of plastic. Enough to notice? Probably not to be quite honest. But the plastic covers also add some material to the light, as it's an extra plastic piece. So if you want something more slick/stream lined, the amber lenses is the way to go.

I'll chime in here... I have the SDHQ mounts and they are ROCK SOLID. I'm sure Alternative Offroad mounts are great because they make good stuff, but the way the SDHQ brackets attach to the body and not the hood is superior in my opinion.

Pretty much any FRF vendor can offer free mounts if you are willing to buy the XL80’s at retail. It does cut into the margins but is doable. We have offered the same deal ourselves.
We no longer sell SDHQ (a decision we made) but we do offer the Alternative Offroad ones. But it looks like you already have a vendor here that is willing to beat anyone’s price and we will not compete at that level. It lowers the value of the best quality products that we can put on our trucks and we have chosen not to play that game. We offer very reasonable and great deals for FRF members since 2012 here and I will leave it at that. We aren’t going anywhere but look at all the other vendors here that have come and gone.

Nice, I'm going to order even though I have Rigid D Series that I was going to run as ditch lights.
However, I'm thinking the wide cornering would provide ditch coverage as well or would the driving/ combo work just as well for ditch coverage?

Go with the Driving/Combo setup. You'll get plenty of width from the 2 Wide Driving lenses on either side, but you'll still get 2 Spot lenses up top for distance. We run XL80 Driving/Combo on all of our A-pillar brackets on all of our trucks.
What BD light shines farther? The Squadron Racer or the XL80 with a spot lenses? I know the XL80’s are 9500 lumens VS 4300 on the SQD Racers. Those two VS the LP6’s?
If you're considering the XL80 and the LP6, I'd look at the XL Racer. That would be your best for distance at that price point.

If you have a light colored truck, wide cornering lights will cause some glare on the hood. I have a blue truck so the glare is not that bad but I decided to do Spots in the XL80s for ultimate distance. Again, this is something that is a customized option which we offer. Driving/Combo is a nice middle ground as you get spot AND wide cornering. But honestly if you are using these for ditch lights, XL80s would not be ideal. That's a LOT Of light. Squadron Pros would be ideal for ditch lights aimed off to the side a bit in a driving/combo pattern.
XL80 are made for distance. Racers are honestly not necessary for 99% of customers out there. Unless you do a lot of high-speed racing at night and need them to go REAL far, regular spots work better. The spots still go far and have a larger coverage area then Racers. So if you're doing like 40mph on a back-road at night, spots are fine. If you are doing 80mph on back roads, then racers would be a good idea along with other lights.
