I owned an original 6.2L Gen 1 with a 5-star tune, CAI and true dual exhaust for 8 years. The sound of the V8 was awesome and I loved the power delivery. I had several aftermarket parts on it (Methods, Red Letter Tires, mid-perch, BakFlip, ADD bumper, light bars, etc.) so it looked and sounded great! After waiting two years for a V8 Gen 2, I finally pulled the trigger on a new 2018.

There really is no comparison between the two generations. Everything is better about the Gen 2, except for the exhaust note. (And I do mean everything) My 2018 is faster, smoother riding, better shifting, better gas mileage, better looking and has way newer technology than my Gen 1. I added an MPT tune, Full Race IC, 170 t-stat and colder spark plugs, among many other mods. I did not bother with a CAI, as they do not add any power and I did a simple FlowMaster muffler replacement to give it a loud growl under heavy acceleration. I have grown fond of the V6TT sound, so it does not bother me any more. The straight pipes you did probably added too much rasp and only made it sound louder. If I really have a longing for the awesome V8 sounds, I take my GT350 with the 5.2L VooDoo engine for a spin and all is right with the world, again...

Get another Gen 2, you will not regret it.

What kind of options does the Gen 1 have? Do they have heated and cooled seats, sport mode like Gen 2? Any other cameras besides the back up camera?

What are some good reasons you guys like the Gen 1 over the Gen 2? Is it just the V8?

I'm looking for enough things that can sway me to Gen 1 as possible.

Yes, this is what I was saying....way different animals, but the same thing..lol

All good points here. Since I've already had a Gen 2, I might be shooting myself in the foot and end up hating the Gen 1

I have a V8 Audi S4 with modified exhaust, so I think you are right on that...If I need a V8 growl I'll take it out. Sometimes modern is better.

I bought My Gen 2 used with 10K miles and the exhaust was already modified. It sounded great except when I opened it all the way...which I did a lot;-) Have you disabled the exhaust playing through your speaker?

Why not do some test drives? Everyone is going to have different ideals, and different reasons for making decisions. See what fits you best.

I agree with looking at and test driving a Gen 1 and a Gen 2. Obviously a Gen 1 test drive is going to be in someone personally selling that truck. Or maybe a used dealer that has one. It’s gonna come down to what you think of each.

Personally it sounds like your more of a modern newer vehicle guy and want the latest features. But if you really wanted a cheaper purchase and maybe plan heavy mods, then the Gen 1 would be it for you.

Mine’s a DD and my luxury vehicle. I like all the toys it has, And it’s very capable. I also wanted new.

Good luck

I would go Gen 1, and find a real Roush truck. Look at the options as it has everything you are looking for. Be prepared to pay mid-$40s at least for it though as the gen 1 values remain pretty high. Great truck all around and you can't hurt it. The 6.2 engine has a great track record in both F150s and the super duty. These are fun trucks.

^^^ I think that you are officially nuts. end of story. you are a paranoid maniac that thinks anyone with a different opinion than you is a squatch. you can't take constructive criticism on anything. you may want to look in the mirror and grow up.
