Make sure the setting in Sync are set up to access CarPlay when the phone is locked and double check the settings on the phone too

Just one more piece of advice. Get a wooden toothpick or something similar that is NON CONDUCTING and clean the lint out of your lightning port. You’d be amazed at how much lint can get in there..

I’ve been holding the power and fast forward button to do a soft reset when it doesn’t connect. along with plugging it in towards the end of the raptor logo. I usually have to reset once a day but it doesn’t change any settings or radio presets so it’s not too bad.

Just got a 2020 a week ago. Took it out for a long drive and had plenty my of screen time. I had the same issues as you did.

Here’s what fixed it. You have to wait a few minutes after starting the car before plugging in the USB cable. I think the Sync OS is still loading drivers/services that allow Apple play to work.

I had 100% success by giving it a few more minutes before using the cable.

It does change your ambient lighting setting. It sets it to 0 brightness.

I've noticed this as well on my 2020. I'm currently driving a dealership loaner that's a basic LST and running Sync 3.3. There is no load time or loading Screen (like the Ford Raptor Performance one we get) and it loads my phone regardless of when I plug it in. Works perfectly every time.
