... What I didn’t do to my Raptor that I should’ve done myself...

Took my Raptor to NTB to swap my SPD 170 degree T-Stat in & my ORA550 spark plugs in. The 3 hour job took 1-1/2 days... they tried saying the AFE intake made the T-Stat install harder, which is complete BS.. also, the new T-Stat was spring activated or some crap, which made it harder.. [emoji23]

Anywho, 2 days later I notice it running hotter (220-230 degrees), so I check the coolant reservoir & then notice a big puddle stain under the truck. I hope they didn’t **** my spark plug install up too...

$100 says they didn’t seat the t-stat o-ring housing properly...

why would you let ntb do a thermostat?

It is legit a 10 min job.

Wasn’t able to do the plugs that day & wanted to put the tune (ORA550 tune came in that morning) on it for my drive later that night... So I got them to do the plugs & that for me since I had it & they’re right down the street...

Welp, didn’t have my truck for my trek to New Orleans that night & I get it back like this. [emoji854]

I figured the t-stat was an hour job maybe, not 10 mins... Now I gotta go to ford to get “orange” coolant & then redo the job I paid them to do. [emoji854] Makes me feel less annoyed that it’ll be easier than I thought to fix... unless they ****** something else up, which idk what else would be leaking from that job. I’ll check the plugs too probably since they couldn’t install a t-stat correctly...

it is the o ring. the 170 tstats have a stronger spring that requires a little finesse. remove the overflow tank and the intake tube then you're down to 3 bolts that hold the tstat housing on.

just wanted to clarify. not judging because you didn't do it yourself on the first go. Feeling like it is crazy because I have never had someone work on a vehicle in Southern Louisiana without the "mechanic" ******** it up somehow. I even get nervous about having a wheel and tire balanced, let alone anything mechanical. I don't know what it is in the water down here, but mechanics are generally no bueno.

If my raptor is getting work that I'm not inclined to do myself, I take it to TMX in Dallas.

Wasn’t a 10 minute job.. more like 45 minutes because of that bottom driver side bolt & not removing the coolant tank (that coolant hose is in the damn way tbh)... but yeah, added another hour to the job in the cold rain because look what I found... THEY GLUED THE O-RING IN PLACE!!! Looks like the 3M weatherstripping adhesive... [emoji58]

But yeah, you’re pretty correct on shit mechanics down here. ASE certification is a joke. I have ONE shop that does all of my suspension work, The Mud Hole on Airline by the airport. They know their shit & we’ve developed a good relationship, as the they’ve done a lot of work on my personal vehicles & also my work fleet service trucks.

But seriously, it was spark plugs & a damn thermostat... seriously, you’re paid to do this. [emoji58]

I did the AMS boost tubes & all... but not my deavers, **** THAT in my driveway. I was just impatient & it bit me in the ass... I should’ve waited to do it myself. Now I’m buying new plugs to & replacing the ones I had them put in... Can’t wait to see if they put gobs of anti-seize on them. [emoji854]

I would have lost my mind if I had found all of that crap on the thermostat.

keep an eye on it to make sure it is opening and flowing properly. I'm certain that they didnt boil the tstat to ensure it was working properly.

at very least, Id be getting a refund from that NTB.

I installed a Bulletproof Diesel 3rd brake
Light antennae mount and Two Denari ambers. One as a chase light the other set to random strobe. Super bright and really cheap. RPG Bed Rack goes in this spring.
