thanks for taking the time to reply. I think I’m in the same boat as you! We tried the RPG collars on my dads gen 2, Geisers and rear leafs on my gen 2, and now KING 3.0s go on my truck tomorrow.

the Geisers were great but not that great. I wasn’t totally satisfied and felt like the truck should drive better than it did.

You’re right. The key will be learning how to dial these things in. This will be my first shock with these kinds of adjustment options. How did you learn how to adjust the rebound and compression levels? Was there a resource you used to learn about it? I honestly don’t know much at all.

Try this. Should get you going in the right direction. Same concepts apply to most shocks with adjusters. Not sure If someone has a king specific manual or not. Maybe they can chime in.

Also, don't be afraid to experiment with different settings. Just make sure you take notes and document how many clicks you are at each adjuster. It's incredibly easy to forget how many clicks you do at times if you're not recording the data somewhere.

Each dial adjuster is essentially a metering device either restricting or allowing more fluid to pass by. Clockwise typically constricts flow allowing less fluid to pass while counterclockwise opens up and allows for more fluid to pass.

Have fun tuning your shocks and try to remember that there is no "one" setting. I personally enjoy the ability to make adjustments depending on the terrain or how I want the truck to feel that day. For everyday driving I've got them set to softest setting (all the way counterclockwise). When I head Offroad and know I'll be hitting aggressive terrain, I tighten up the adjusters (clockwise) to prevent bottom outs.

Hope that helps you. Cheers.

Hey i was just curious of something I have my 2020 on order probably won’t see it till spring lol. But what you guys think the stock live valve shocks would be worth if you replaced with the 3.0 and had barely and mileage on the stock ones. Might help offset the cost a bit.

PM your email and I can send you some videos... most of them are for Mountain biking but they teach the exact same principle. I had RPG tune my suspension when I bought my Fox 3.0's, they custom valved them according to my needs. They then gave me some settings, which were almost dead on.

You will know the difference once you turn them all the way off (clockwise) or all the way on. I would hit a trail and do it over and over and over... make sure it is a trail that will reflect your type of off roading. Basically you set it up for an all around feel. If your really into it, you write down each setting based on each trail you run and adjust when you ride it.. like mountain biking. For me, I set it and go

My wife thinks I only have 3 guns

I think they might be tough to sell.. because I’m guessing the stock live valves only work on the raptor.

Interested to see how the factory live valves will do. The computer will adjust and there are adjustment knobs also.

I’ve got an ‘18 w/ 16k miles on it & this topic is interesting to me b/c i I tend on keeping the truck a long time (100-150k miles 7 years) so don’t wanna waste $$$ doing something twice so to speak.

I’ve been debating adding eibach or Geiser springs to my truck mainly to add some ride height/clearance off-road & for aesthetics + hopefully tighten up the handling/braking slightly on the street. I don’t want to sacrifice comfort on road or ability off-road - I don’t mind a little added stiffness if it’s aiding handling (like when I added bilstein 5100s to previous GM trucks)

I planned on upgrading the suspension in stages.

I also hate even a slightly nose high stance & I use the Rap as a DD trailer up to 2500-3000 lbs between jet skis/utiiity trailer occasionally & will have 500+ lbs in the bed a few times a month. So figured after the springs get a set of deaver +3s to keep a stance w/ a rake angle similar to factory & be able to handle some weight in the bed w/o squatting bad. I assume I’ll get noticeable squat w/ 500lbs in bed & geiser or eibach springs front stock leafs rear?

Between alignment/install/parts you’re looking @ $2700-3000 give or take.

Then I found out the stock shocks are recommended for rebuild/replacement @ 55k even when used normally. That’ll run ya $1500-2000 or whatever I’m guessing w/ OEM.

So I was considering waiting doing nothing or just adding 1.5” rpg collars for the moment leaving a lil take & then in 1-1.5 years when I’m coming up for the shocks needing replacement/rebuilding anyhow pulling trigger on some high end stuff.

Question- I assume icon/king/fox 3.0 shocks/coil overs also add a bit of ride height? Is there any benefit to increase ability to handle payload w/o squatting? Are you leaving rear leafs stock? Will they alleviate axle wrap like deavers ?(another thing that made me want them)

I cant speak for the Icons or Kings, but the Fox 3.0 front coilovers come from Fox set at 2" higher than OEM. Regardless of which shocks you opt with, replacement leaf springs are still highly recommenced and are needed to alleviate axle wrap.

I started with Eibachs and 35s, then went to 37s and now are riding on Fox 3.0s and 37s.IMG_0089.jpg
