2020 or 2021?

I was informed by a reputable Ford Dealership, who specializes in high performance Fords, that there won’t be a 2021 Raptor. 2020 will be the last year for the current version. The Gen 3 will be a 2022 and....... not likely a V8. FWIW. I make no claim this is accurate.
If the past is any indication I think the new f150 is slated for 2022 and the raptor is usually 2 years behind. That would make 2021 the last year and the raptor available again in 2024. This is not a fact, this is speculation based on history.

if you hold your breath long enough....No don't wait test drive the V-6. Its got more horses than the V-8 that came with the earlier Raptors. Everyone thought that Ford would put in a V-8 in 2020 and nada. Get your Raptor NOW; You won't be sorry.

Waiting a year is still going to get you the V6 EcoBoost, the 2021 will be the GT500 motor, I believe the redesign won't be until the 2022 year

I'm late to the Raptor party. Started looking for a Raptor 2 days ago and noticed a ton of 2019's on the market with 4000, 6000, 9000 miles on them, for sale by their 1st owners. Doing just a little research, I found people saying there were 1) cam phaser and 2) oil consumption problems.
@CigarPundit says these were fixed? Fixed for 2019 models? I read elsewhere that Raptors pre April 2019 still have those problems but after April they were okay?

So can everyone confirm, 2019 Raptors MAY be okay regarding those problems, but 2020 are definitely okay?

I agree CigarPUndit - one heck of a great looking truck.

there is a pending recall for 17-18 raptors regarding the cam phasers. there has been some discussions on the 19's having issues but not much being they are so new. 17 and early 18 also had the oil pan issue. when i had my 2020 on order i spoke to a senior ford tech and he said the new trucks have updated phasers, not sure when exactly they switched over to the updated ones. 2020 may be the last year for gen2 and thats fine with me. gen3 will likely have its own growing pains and i dont want a new truck in its first year. ill ride out my gen2 for a while and see what the future brings.

There is no recall for the cam phasers. There is a TSB. It will be fixed under warranty.

Yes, the information available is that 2019+ built after 4/19 have the new parts and calibration, so they should not have the issue.

From my understanding the oil consumption issue relates to the valve cover and has also been fixed. I don’t recall the date on that, but I have a 6/19 build and mine is fine. I certainly don’t think it applies to 2020.

My best guess is that 2021 will still be Gen 2, but I have no inside information in that.

Finally, I would just say that every car has problems of one sort or another. Nobody is making perfect cars yet. If you like the Gen 2 and are ready to buy, I would just do it. Problems are greatly exaggerated on forums and the truck is awesome. No regrets whatsoever.

The F-150 is getting a full redesign for 2021 model year. As some others have mentioned, that likely means no Raptor for at least a couple model years afterward. When P552 F-150 debuted in 2014, there was no Raptor variant until model year 2017.

For anyone currently in the market for a new Raptor, do not hesitate to pull the trigger on a leftover ‘19 or current ‘20.

I am not sure that the new parts and program released in April actually solve the problem. There was recently a truck here with a build date after that, and had 150 miles on it and it had the cam phaser rattle. I will say that if you look back, this problem is nothing new on this engine and ford has released "updated" parts that "should" fix the problem several times. I have no faith in them actually fixing this. If they haven't fixed it yet, they never will. This affects 17+ raptors... not just a specific year or date range.
