Has anyone had issues with their highbeams not staying on? Or not being able to dim them?

I have a 2013 with the HID lights. I thought the issue might be with the switch or something inside the steering column. But the Stealerships says there's a shutter in the light housing itself that sticks (either up or down depending). He said I would have to replace both headlights at $1,000 a piece!

They won't even attempt to look at the lever on the column or try to troubleshoot it.

He said without replacing the lights they wouldn't know.

It probably is the shutter in the light housing. You can get new OEM housings for less than $500 each, and there is an $80 core charge. There is no ballast or lamps included, but it should have the shutter assembly in there AFAIK.

If that was the case, why can I make them come on by pulling on the stalk on the steering column?

UPDATE: New factory column stalk costs $200. And that was the problem. Much better than the ******* dealership telling me I needed to spend $2,000 on two new headlight assemblies. **** them.
