We also offer the RPG kit, however, the switch to "tow mode" requires the purchase of additional parts and a more complicated process to switch the bump stops as it's significantly harder to reach the strike pads than to pull out the bolts on the SVC kit.

Sure you have to purchase the longer bump pads. But i guarantee i will finish putting them on quicker with 1 single allen wrench vs at least two wrenches (probably a impact gun) to do the svc setup. So no, it is much easier to do the rpg and waaaaaaay quiker on rpg

So the RPG kit I was looking at on their site is the RST-16, with the two cross braces. It looks like it utilizes new shock mounts...is that right? How difficult is the install?

I've owned and run both. Prefer the impact and wrench vs a corroded Allen key and leaning inside the wheel well and reaching down to the bump stop pad. But again, different strokes for different folks, and that's why we offer both and have run both.

Driver side mounts to a different location than OEM and RPG provides the mount. Passenger side mounts to OEM location on axle. We just got the shocks this week for one of our shop trucks who's running the RST18 kit. Will have a significant number of photos of that and write-up once installed.

Thanks! I'm trying to pick a kit. I'm a working guy and can only afford to do this once...

The rst-16 is a 16 inch travel kit (under the bed meaning you don't have to have your shocks coming up through the bed and you get 16 inches of travel) anyways, it is super cool but not needed. Just the bump kit. Both the bump and rst are super easy to install and are literally bolt in. Svc vs rpg...svc makes some good products but imho rpg is the best.

I have the SVC kit, I dont know if its because of my bypass rack setup, but even with it in "Tow mode" I cant get the axle to strike the bump stop with my toy hauler hooked up.

question: What's the actual goal for your truck? A specific "dream trip", local terrain, a particular capability that you're after?

for instance, I built my truck for a dream trip. (I've been super fortunate to be able to take the dream trip a couple times) My truck is laughably useless anywhere within a 500ish mile radius from where I live.

I absolutely get the not wanting to do it more than once because it takes a lot of effort to be able to do it once, and doing it twice is not possible.
