Totally in for it. Can't wait for (decades of) Ford engineering on top of the Rivian electric tech with all that torque on the front end. Can't wait to burn out all four tires at once. So, 500 miles of range becomes 250 offroad... EVERYONE WHO DROVE 250 miles OFFROAD in MOAB WITHOUT GOING INTO TOWN FOR DINNER AT ZAX OR ANICA FORMA SHOULD DEFINITELY OPPOSE THIS IDEA.

Since the Raptors have come out with the EB it has tripled its buyer draw. Mostly because of the mpg. Those of us that bought a 10-14 might not be intrigued as those of you with the EB engine. So I believe there is a big market in an electric motor option for Raptor owners who never go off road but buy the Raptor for other reasons. (And a few that would not mind carrying a Generator to Moab to recharge.) A hybrid option is more attractive as mentioned already. At 200k my 6.2 has proven reliable. The Electric motor would also need a good warranty included to make the jump not as risky.

200K, awesome the 6.2 is a great motor. The funny thing is I went from a 14' to a 17' and honestly the mpg is not much better. I achieved 12ish in the 6.2 and 14ish with the Ecoboost. I now drive a 18' Platinum with a whipple 5.0 that gets 18ish granted it has smaller tires, higher geared rear end 3.73, and is a lighter truck, but overall I have to say its the best combination of instant power, acceleration, and torque of any truck I have owned to date. Wish they'd offer that package in the Raptor.

Kept the paid off Raptor and still average 12-13 mpg as well, but bought a Power Wagon (6.4L)and get 12 city and 17 hwy but that was a bonus cause I was just looking to tow more and still play on the rocks in Moab too. Electric trucks will find their place but I doubt it will be with the guys and gals that off road. My opinion based off my time off road with others.

I don't see a realistic EV Raptor anytime soon because of the limited range. That being said, EVs in general are fantastic. My girlfriend has a dual-motor Model 3. That car is ridiculously fast and is the best 4 door vehicle in its price range by far, in my opinion. Also, EVs have been great for gas prices. I don't think it's a coincidence that as soon as Elon Musk showed the world the benefits of EVs that gasoline started coming back down to reasonable prices. Remember back in 2009 or so when gas was $4.00 a gallon, while the oil companies were reporting profits of $3 billion or so a quarter? Tesla sales (and other EVs) will go through the roof if gas ever returns to those prices.

Not no, but hell no.
If the technology to package power was sufficiently advanced, the Army and Marines would equip our troops with powered armor suits.
The technology is not ready.
It remains to be seen if power can be packaged efficiently enough to achieve these things.

I expect my next DD will be an EV, several buddies have the tesla-3 and I love everything about them except the ass-ugly styling, literally among the 10 ugliest cars on the road.

My primary use-case for the Raptor involves routine trips to the country, sometimes with a round trip of well over 500 miles, plus the day or three spent out there.

I wish solar cells were better, could envision a roof and bed-cover made of them that would not generate enough to run the vehicle (as in without battery) but could fully charge in in a few hours of parking in hot/direct sun.

EVs are not the reason prices dropped, it was the rise in fracking. Fracking has been around for along time, but it was never done because the cost of production meant it wasn't profitable given market oil prices. When oil prices rose, mostly due to ME prices, it suddenly became profitable to frack. And of course, once we started fracking, we improved the process and made it cheaper to frack to the point it could compete with normal drilling even as oil prices decreased. It's why the US is now a net exporter of oil.

US Oil companies are still making money easily these days despite lower prices. Why, because they have leverage with foreign oil they never had before. Foreign oil has some competition now.

And I don't think oil companies are really concerned about EVs. They are only concerned to the extent that they get a decent return on their investments in oil, which they will. They'll be happy to switch to other forms of energy when it becomes profitable to do so. Money is the goal.

Also worth point out that oil is not just about energy, but plastics as well. If oil for energy goes away, then it stands to reason there will be significantly less drilling and therefore costs of plastics and other oil based products are going to go up. Which might mean the demands for metals and wood might go up...which isn't exactly great for the environment.
