I’m running the outer ones with red lenses and have them hooked to my tail lights. So they emulate my tails (so I have “3rd” turn signals basically). The center is amber hooked to one of my Switch-Pro outputs for a “dust” light. All S2 Pro’s btw.

So in my opinion, they are way too bright for everyday turn/brake. It would be really obnoxious to those behind at a stop light.

So I found the perfect solution. It’s a dimmer made by Skene (model 275 I believe). I’ve got it wired for 10% output, and then when I activate my center amber (dust) light, it puts the outer brake/turn reds to work at full power when activated. Super slick setup.

how did you wire it to the switch pro? I used up my passthrough wiring to the switchpro control 4 wire harness. my power block is on an SDHQ mount so i'd have to feed wiring through the firewall again.

I am actually in the market for the GJ Motorsports 3rd brake light and having a hard time deciding on BD sports vs pros. I only plan on using them for only offroad use, needing to turn the aux switch on.

While I know pro's are best in class brightness wise.. is it overkill? Cost-wise, I'd like to use sports but am I going to regret not having the brighter ones?

I'd like to do sports in the rear and pros in the front - any feedback greatly appreciated.

Sports are more than enough for chase lights.

I'd say go with the Sports. They'll work great as chase lights. Because they are up high, that's why I say sports. If they were down low I'd say Pros so that they cut through the dirt you kick up more. But since they are up high, sports work great.

You can order it here: http://www.4x4truckleds.com/gj-motorsports-3rd-brake-light-for-2015-ford-f-150-2017-ford-super-duty/

Thank you for the feedback, i'll def go for sports then. I am assuming its probably better to wait till black friday at this point to order. Since I am planning on the ADD pro bolt on + BD squad pros, just order all at once

Well we will have some Black Friday deals up but we're not sure WHAT those discounts will be or which products. I can tell you we WILL have some Baja Designs Black Friday deals. If you want to pull the trigger now shoot me a message. We can hook you up with the ADD bumper + GJ Motorsports + S2 Lights + Whatever else you're looking for as an early BF promotion.

I too am interested in this light. I realize a lot has been posted about it but I'm still a bit confused. Please dumb down the reply so I can understand exactly what it does and how it's connected.

1. Is it plug and play? You unscrew the OEM housing, pull apart the connector, attach the new harness, and screw the new light on?

2. What does it do, if anything, when driving? If installed as intended, without any mods, is it off while driving and acts as a 3rd brake light? If so, which of the 3 lights light?

3. I see three round LEDs on the bottom of it. Yet I was behind a Raptor the other day at night and I didn't see any rear LEDs on as the 5 are on the front.

4. When I stop at top of my driveway to get mail, I see the white lights on. Is that what happens with this the outer two go on?

Sorry for all the questions. I'm not that talented of an installer. I can do easy things, getting better, but want to be sure if I order something I can install it.

Thank you.

Yes, it's plug and play (for the most part). You remove your existing brake light and put this one in. Nothing to drill. The factory connectors do plug into this new brake light (there is a module they plug into) so nothing to cut. You do have to run a wiring harness up to your passenger side footwell area, where your upfitter passthroughs are for. This is so you can get power for your S2 lights, that go into the 3rd brake light.

While driving nothing changes. If you brake, 3 LEDs on the bottom of the brake light turn on. If you open your door, the center light comes on, just like before. The outter 2 lights are controlled from your upfitter switches.

I'm not sure what you mean by stopping to get your mail and seeing the white lights? There are no white lights that are on unless you open your door or turn your bed lights on.

From your questions I'm not sure as though you understand the purpose of this light? It is to run ambers that you turn on via the aux switches so that people behind you can see your truck when driving off road. If this is not what you are buying it for then don't buy it.

1 - Not really imo as you have to run the wiring harness along the cab and wire the amber lights up inside the fuse box area. Yes the three leds and cargo have plugs (which is appreciated), but if you buy the harness to have the center light come on with reverse you have to tap into a wire in the BCM connector in the fuse area as well.

2/3 - as mentioned the three LEDs light up when braking

4 - Most people wire it with white in the center (which would come on with doors open) and ambers on the outside. You could do white ones on the outside if you wanted to blind the neighborhood while getting your mail.
