Hello all, new to the forum, wish I was joining under happier circumstances.

After five years of squeezing this thing in and out of tight garages and spaces with no issues, I finally clipped the edge of a wall in a tight parking garage entrance.

The back wheel on the passenger side made square contact and the axle bent. I had it taken to a dealer and this is the estimate they gave me. I do not have much experience in the area but it seemed very high and hoped to pick your brains here before moving forward.

Thank you for any and all feedback.

I have not researched every part on that list, but the price seems about right. To replace an axle housing is not cheap. Research what a Currie rear end costs and you will be thankful that yours doesn’t cost that much.

If you were planning on any suspension mods for the truck, then it would be a good time to go ahead and do them since your rear end will be torn apart.

I would make sure to get a rear diff cover that has a drain plug rather than the oem cover.

Also, I am sure your shackles were already worn out after five years of use. So I would replace the shackle on the other side too—you may want to replace the other leaf spring too. These are things to think about if you plan on keeping the truck.

Buy a Currie F9 rear end or camburg. It’s actually cheaper than that. Someone said above you are lucky it’s not as much $$ as a Currie but that’s only when your linking, adding a 3rd member, or fabricating the rear I’m pretty sure. You must have clipped that corner pretty hard to break all that

I would definitely start upgrading as the cost won’t be much more. At the very least go to deavers or icons as you should replace both leaf packs. It won’t sit level with only one new spring spack as I’m sure the originals have drooped some.

Look around and get a used axle for $1200-1500.

Install it yourself or have someone help you. It’s 100% bolt on. Just my opinion. If your already gonna spend all that money might as well put down a little more for some indestructible parts.
