Keypad was coming off the door of my 2018 raptor. Just got it back from the dealership. Looks like they were pretty rough. Should I take it back or I'm I being too picky?ccb9a9b0c7d8f4ae506a649e21d96e79.jpg

Taking your truck to the dealer should be almost exactly equal to loaning a tool to a friend. You loan the tool, your friend uses the tool and returns it to you in equal or better condition. That’s Man Law 101.

the dealer should not be returning your vehicle to you in any condition worse than you bring it in for, in any way. So no, you are not being too picky.

I would take it back, but I doubt they'll be able to fix it. They'll just get a replacement panel, and most likely the 'new' one won't be as good. I had to reject three before getting one that was tolerable, and it still was worse than my original one was from the factory.

That sucks! Makes me wonder if I should take it back just to show them but not have them put a new panel on [emoji51]. Maybe I should see if an upholstery shop could fix it.

Also noticed on the outside under the keypad there is a small dent. It's like they beat the hell out of my door. Ugh!

That sucks. Yeah, I would personally recommend an upholstery shop, if you can find one. Hope you have better luck than me.

I've fallen back to my old standby of not letting anyone else touch my truck, except as a last resort. Gonna have to repaint three panels myself because two different body shops couldn't handle it. Last shop butchered my interior panel, rear door pillar trim (how!?), and fender flare. Refund just covered the trim damage.

The exterior replacement parts were fine, but every door panel I got had at least one scratch, the second had a deep gouge in the leather. This third one barely met my QC standards when I unboxed it at the dealer, and I noticed two more issues after a month or so. It the end, it is expensive junk, as I heard it said on another F150 forum. It sucks and drives the OCD crazy, but try not to get hung up on it too much. Believe me, you can spend a lot of time and money making it worse in the pursuit of perfection.

Here’s the crux of the problem. The culture at domestic dealerships is, by definition not high-line focused for customer service or satisfaction. As such, the raptor may cost more than the vast majority of high-line vehicles sold (think M-B & BMW), it’s being sold & serviced in some cases in dealerships that could pass as sweat shops. Meanwhile, the guy or gal buying the $45k c-class or 3 series is getting lattes and pampered (for the most part) with a lot more attention. Take it from a factory guy that’s been around the block - you will get the level of service you demand and when you spend $65-75k, you deserve to have higher expectations. It’s their problem if they’re not used it. Don’t ever be shy about demanding what you paid for.

I just had this discussion with the local Ford dealer. Their service has to run the gamut from a '98 Fiesta to a Ford GT, and there is no real distinction for the customer. They really need a concierge-type service for the higher-end vehicles. I'm pretty sure come Lincoln dealers now have it. But yeah, I came from an outstanding Lexus dealer, and it's like going to the DMV now at Ford.
