I wanted to see if someone could help me. My Roush 2014 raptor with 38K miles had a catastrophic engine failure with an oil pump failure. Apparently when I contacted Roush and Ford will not cover the $20K to put a new engine in with labor. Anyone have any recommendations or heard of something like this. Needless to say the expense is overwhelming. Thank you for your help.

Was the vehicle sold from the dealer with the Roush kit or added on later? If sold with Roush, when was it purchased?
Unfortunately the stock oil pump is a known weak spot for supercharged vehicles and failure results in engine failure.

Hi! Thank you so much. Truck was bought with Roush installed at their location. Looks like it was beyond the 3 years warranty by 3 months...its crazy that the oil pump goes out literally right after the warranty.

20K is WAY high. You can get a built engine put in for a lot less than that.

Shortblock: $6000 https://www.livernoismotorsports.com/product/LPP750108
Heads: $1600 https://www.livernoismotorsports.com/product/LPP760109
Oil Pump w/billet gears: $500 https://www.livernoismotorsports.com/product/LPP701108.

You could pay someone to swap it out for under $2000 IMO. You'd be out the door for under $10K "officially". There's always the added "while I'm in there" stuff and swapping some parts from the old engine to the new, but still.... maybe another grand for that.

If you want to go the cheap route, I'd go for a low mileage take out and swap the oil pump gears out. You'd be around $3500 for the parts, plus the swap labor. Should be around $5K total.

20,000 for new engine and labor to install! It’s time you and a few buddies get together, pull your engine and if you don’t have the know how to rebuild the engine take it to someone who does and reinstall it yourself. You don’t need a new engine you need to repair what’s bad and reinstall. Even if itgrenaded on you maybe a short block is all that’s needed. All other components of the engine should be good. Why give someone else all that good stuff especially your hard earned moola.

Wait. The drivetrain is covered for 5 years/60,000 miles. If the truck originally came with the Roush, it should be covered. Unless it's been more than five years - being a 2014 in 2019 I don't know.

$20,000 is a tad high, I'm assuming that's a rough estimate.

A Ford Factory rebuilt engine and with demo and reinstallation with the supercharger has averaged around $12,500 to as high as $16,000

Your not the first to have the oil pump fail, and in all cases the engine is toast.

Just make sure you upgrade the oil pump gears before the rebuilt engine goes in!!!!

Ford does not cover a Supercharged Raptor doesn't matter which one.... And I mean period!!!!

This is something that Roush and the dealers should be sued over, making false statements to sell you an over priced Raptor.

I recommend working with the dealer to come down on the hourly wage cost with 10% discount on all parts as good faith.
And have Roush send all necessary parts for a fresh install of their Supercharger.

Your going to have an uphill battle but, be patient (best you can) hopefully both the dealer and Roush will feel your pain and suck it up and help make it right.

And don't use the Roush Tune it sucks anyway, get the Tune from JDM or Livernois.
