Rear Diff cover..fact or fiction?

I found this video interesting, but also funny.
Banks are engine people, so why not apply engine technology?
State of the art for an engine would be a scraper to remove most of the oil from the crank/rods.
He kind of hints at the shape being important, where is the improvement?

Huh? "Kind of hints at the shape being important" WTFO???? Did you watch the same series of videos I did? He very clearly states and demonstrates for your own eyes that the shape is EXTREMELY important. There is no improvement. Stock is best. I mean damn, the axle manufactures just might know a thing or two about axles and covers, ya know?. All you can do for improvement is make a stock shaped cover with better cooling fins, which is what they will eventually sell. You ever seen a dump truck axle with a square cover?

"Kind if hints" was a poor choice. Clearly the after market covers were NOT better that stock. There is always a cost factor in manufacturing, so its possible it could be improved.

The B&M cover maintains the stock rounded shape, but adds cooling fins. I think that might be the best option, and the cost is moderate too. The coolant flow on the squared covers can't be very good at all.

The spicer is exactly the same as the oldies performance. They have rounded insides, drain and fill ports, not sure if they have more oil capacity. I went with the spicer

Just looking at Banks design with the fins BELOW the pumpkin. I get it, catches air to cool the fins but in an off-road truck where a rear diff skid plate from Foutz makes more sense than ripping off your diff cover when it catches is a ******** design for our trucks. I would never put a banks cover on if it comes out to the market with that feature.

They left a line for your cut-off wheel, but its just more places to pack mud.

That is crazy. This looks like it sets up for catastrophic failure for offroad use. The internal fins to direct the oil is pretty sweet though. But I agree, this has no place for offroad use.
