GEN 2 wheel well liners or LineX

I stumbled upon another thread about spray in liners (the only option my truck didn’t have curiously enough which I was kinda bummed about but not so much after reading the thread it seems line x is just as good or better) and the white wheel wheel wells bother me so was thinking of getting them LineXed as well but apparently it depends on the shop whether or not they will do it. I also stumbled upon liners as an option?

Looking for opinions on both please as they seem to be about the same cost. Wondering if the liners leave the possibly of road gunk getting between the plastic and the steel and causing issues.

I did my wells with 3m rubberized coating. 15 minutes of taping off the wheel and the exterior of the truck, roughed up the paint with some 80grit sandpaper and sprayed it on. Seems to be holding up well (no pun intended).

15 bucks for plastic and the rubberized spray.

If you ever plan to upgrade suspension you wouldn’t be able to keep the liners so spray in would be better in that case. Not sure if that was in your plans but food for thought.

I did this to my 2017 and will do the same on my 2019. I had no issues with anything flaking off on my 2017. I believe it also provided some sound insulation because I occasionally hear a rock hitting the wheel well on my 2019 that I never noticed on my 2017.

I paid local shop $200 to install custom liners. They look professional and work great and other raptor owners have asked me where they could get them. I was going to line-x but my guy said he didn't do wheel wells. I think either option good.

Line X. Looks great and holds up perfect. Also very easy to clean

I sprayed my own liners with coating as well and look and protect great and spent about 20 bucks!

I had mine Line-Xd and I am happy with them. Also Line-Xd the fender extensions.


Do you mind sharing some pictures of the fenders I am considering getting them line xd when I do the bed but can't decide. I already pin stripped them so it's not a hard decision but would still like to see how they look sprayed.

I debated doing my rears as well....I have a black truck so its less noticeable, but even though its AL it will get TORN UP from rock chips & salt/sand will eat away/oxidize the metal, it'll get pitted & ugly over time & YES it will def make more noise too w/ rocks/road debris "pinging" off the metal vs. a rubberized coat or plastic liner.

That being said - since its not an area that is super pleasing/aesthetic to the eye to begin w/, & since you wouldn't be subjecting that area to routine heavy scraping/weight like a bed or fender flares, I think a DIY job as MnFlyer mentioned is the way to go. Just make sure the area is VERY DRY before you do it. I doubt you'd have to scuff up too much either its basically just primed & gets "pre-scuffed" daily from road debris. I'll probably just hit it up w/ a sanding block few mins each side, wipe down w/ rubbing alcohol, blow dry w/ air hose & go to town w/ linex type spray can.
