Does anyone know of a easy accessible coating that can be used to touch up the side steps/running boards? And matches the texture and gloss/finish?

Hit something and rubbed a foot of the coating off...sucks!

Funny. But I can't take credit honestly. I loaned my son my 19 Raptor while I was away on vacation. He went from NY to Nova Scotia winter camping/hiking. Put 3k miles on my truck which had 600. Naturally it wasn't until he got home to New Jersey that he "accidentally" jumped a curb, "panicked" his word, and instead of stopping continued on and scraped the finish off the entire length and bent down 1-1/2" the passenger side running board against an orange bollard.

So, I not only need it refinished but bent back up, or have the brackets and that side replaced. If it was on the driver's side I'd have already fixed it. Outta sight, outta mind thus far.

I was thinking of taking a 2x4, placing it under the running board, and slowly using a jack to bend it back up. I asked the Ford dealer, during my last oil change, to take a look. He said he didn't want to try bending it back up as it may kink the brackets. Damn.

There is a product, however, that may be just what the doctor ordered.

Check this out.

You are brave to let an inexperienced kid drive your truck! You must also be very patient.

Thank you for the compliment, I think. LOL.

Well, I call him a kid. He's actually my oldest, 32 years old. He drives his own Mercedes, has a great job and lives and travels the world. I loaned him my brand new 19 Porsche 911 T last year and he went to visit friends in New Hampshire where he attended college. He returned it pristine.

I taught all 3 of my kids to drive (and just about all of my friends too, on my manual tranny Pontiac Astre) and have always tried to be patient.

A friend of mine once told me, as his kids were older, that it's not if but when accidents will happen with kids. My first reply has always been: "Are you hurt?"

My family greatly appreciates that. Oh, and he did immediately offer to pay for a new running board, but I don't want to take his money. I was going to do the Amp steps, as I miss them from my Platinum, but others have suggested not to.

I had a 6" scrape on the bottom of my 17 raptor when I bought it a few months back. I bought a can of rustoleum bed liner spray from O'Reilly auto parts and ended up staying it onto a piece of cardboard and taking a small touch up artist paintbrush and painting the scrape. You would never know it was there unless you already knew it. I'm guessing any textured flat black would look good or come close to matching

I was going to say, it's a perfect time to put on Amp Research step boards. I like the look of the factory boards, but I'm not getting any younger and miss them on my Expedition.

Factory steps do a lot to protect the bed from stone chips. Amp steps are nice, but you will start showing bare metal on the front flared out part of the bed quickly. Ask me how I know lol

I completely agree on the not getting any younger comment. I'm 62. You should see me lower myself into my sports car. Now that's a sight to see. Getting out is even harder. But last year, through mostly diet, as I always exercise, I lost about 30 pounds, 6' tall, was 216, now 186. That made a big difference in stepping up into the Raptor. Much easier. Only a little easier lowering and raising myself in the sports car.
