What is wrong with expecting quality on a $70k truck that is standard on a $25k Toyota Corolla?

I wouldn't say any of this is "quality control" issues. The dash isn't loose, or rattling- it's been damaged during shipment or installation.

Surface rust on iron suspension parts is not an indication of quality either. If that axle can go 500K miles with that rust on it- is it still poor quality? What if they put a gold plated axle in there that needed replacing every 20K miles? Would it be quality then?

I will say this. You have no idea if these "scuffs" you deem as poor quality, left the factory this way. Dealer porters, or test drives could have cause some of this.

While i am all up for quality control. without pictures, there is no way for us to tell if you are being unrealistic or not.

finally. it is a truck. you are going to drive it. scuffs happen.

Misaligned doors, extensive rust, extensive corrosion, damaged dash, crooked steering columns, poor paint are not quality control issues then what would be a quality control issues? Please let me know?

If the paint on all F150s is "bad"- there's nothing quality control can do about it. Get it?

"Extensive" is 100% subjective.

Many of you seem totally oblivious to the fact this is a $25k work truck with extensive performance upgrades. It is made by the same employees and on the same production line that builds those orange DOT trucks you see on the side of the highway picking up garbage.

If you demand impeccable quality for your $70k, check out bottom of the line Mercedes, BMW, or Lexus. Buy a pickup truck, you should expect pickup quality.

As others have already pointed out, if you are buying the Raptor for performance, it is a wonderful vehicle. If you are buying a Raptor as a showpiece to impress your neighbors, then you will be disappointed.

I had trail-striping down the side of my Raptor within 48-hours of purchase and have been tickled pink with the build quality of my truck. But I'm only interested in how it performs, not superficial things like interior trim pieces.

Well everything was good on the last truck, fit and finish was good but they said the dash would need to be replaced and I might end up with more damage than it's worth. So they recommend not doing it. I'm trading my 18 because my dash is scuffed up so it makes no since to buy this truck.

I appreciate you're input. I'm fine having dealers fix minor items, painting a little rust on my diff. My 18 shadow black even has some orange peel, but nothing like I've seen on the 19's. And I'm not cool with dash replacement, painting panels or adjusting doors when buying new because it never turns out well. I've tried it before.

I'm probably going to wait until early summer and see if some of the production problems get resolved. My 18 was fine, the dash was just scuffed bad in numerous places with screw driver marks on the driver side vent, dont ask me how it got there with 15 miles on it?

For what it's worth, I had to have the dash on my '17 replaced under warranty. Yes, it is a very involved process but can be done easily enough. It took them 1.5 days once the parts arrived...

I gave the tech $50 and told him there was another $50 in it for him when I picked it up if there was no further damage.

I agree on the rusty suspension parts. I would have gladly paid for them to be painted. I've seen rusty diffs on all trim levels.

I get it, save a few dollars etc and most folks don't look underneath their trucks.

Hope you find one that works for you!

I'd love to see photos of all these scratches. Something tells me they are nearly microscopic and we would all need a high res photo with the area highlighted and arrows pointing to it to see the actual scratch.

Some good points. At the end of the day it is an F150 whether it is 70k or 30k. It's too bad that the 70k vehicle doesn't get a little more attention from QC but it is what it is.

I can go both ways on this- for $70k quality should be better- If someone spent 50K on a mustang they would want perfect paint. Having said that- I take mine off road- the paint is no longer so pretty.
I have more concern with people having motor problems.
