We will see the same 3.5 engine tweaked for more horsepower in the next generation before we see the 7.3.

Hopefully something like a 4.0 TT in the works.

No problem with that as long as Ford actually applies their lessons learned from the 3.5 ecoboost problems. The reliability of this 3.5 ecoboost is terrible.

In any case, with the Raptor becoming an option package across platforms, Ford will allow you to choose which available engine you want.

So long as it is the Ecoboost 3.5 twin turbo

Wow, I didn’t realize how much I missed 2017 when you were screaming about the “new engine” as a “2017.5 model year option”.

That was right after the first time we banned you, right?

Fortunately for thousands upon thousands of Ford car and truck buyers, you’re in a denial of reality all your own.

The 7.3 might fit, but everything I've watched and read suggests its more of a diesel alternative than anything. Pushrod engines are typically lower revving and prioritize low end torque over HP. Then there's the weight. It's huge, made of iron and has thicker sidewalls. Doesn't sound like something made for a "baja truck"

The location of the camshaft does not determine torque vs. horsepower or low revs vs. high revs.

The new 7.3 is extremely compact for its displacement. It's actually smaller than the 6.2 and probably lighter, too.

I'm not saying they're going to put it in the F-150 or the Mustang; they have given no indication that they will. But they definitely could.
