Will Raptor have another 3 year break before gen 3?

You're probably right.... BUT Ford has EB 4 bangers and EB V6's no reason why there can't be an EB V8... A 4.0 TT V8 sounds pretty sweet to me.

^^^^ this

While I have no idea if Ford would consider a TT V8, the above sounds like a winning approach to me. It stays within Fords Ecoboost future, it bumps up power and torque from the current level significantly, and it delivers a V8 sound for those that have to have that. And it delivers the relatively good fuel economy (if you can keep your foot out of the turbos) of the smaller displacement motor. The TRX will have what, 575 HP? You should be able to get into that region with a small TT V8 pretty easy. The GM 4.2L TT V8 for the Cadillac CT6 V is in the 550 HP / 626 lbs/ft region. Yes, that is only supposed to be a Cad motor, but I could see something like that making its way into GM trucks. If so it might be nice for Ford to have an answer.

T!

I don't get the obsession with cylinder count. I've never seen the inside of my V6TT and I hope I never have to. The only thing I care about is performance and an electric assist would be a far greater kick in the pants than splitting the displacement 8 ways instead of 6 ways.

Even Chevy knows the V6TT is a beast because all of their ads claim "best in class V8 torque". They fully acknowledge their V8 doesn't measure up to the EB.

You think people who want a V8 want it to look inside the engine?

The point is....it doesn't matter what the inside looks like. the only difference between a 450hp v8 coyote and a 450 hp v6 twin turbo....is a few hundred pounds. exhaust "sound" means nothing and it is all subject to personal taste.

I will take the weight savings every day over sound.

Why do you say that about the Tremor? I had one and I kind of wish I kept it. I thought it was an excellent driving truck.
Just that I decided to buy the Raptor instead of the Tremor. The Tremor is a great truck, but they only built it for one year. Poor sales? Perhaps it's a collectible truck now.

My point is, a small displacement TT V8 will make more than 450HP. Porsche has one, Cadillac has one and both are making about 100hp more.

Why does the V8 need to be TT? Why can't it be NA or a roots blower of some sort if necessary? I think that as long as you have a 500hp V8, Ford will be able to keep up with what Dodge will have.

Because TT > NA

I’d much rather have the current power plant than the previous one.
