OK - so here me out. I currently have a Gen1 that sounds awesome with a bunch of aftermarket exhaust upgrades. I recently ordered a 19 and have started to research the exhaust options to see what I could possibly do to get something close to a V8 sound.

From reading the posts on this forum, I've come to the conclusion that all aftermarket exhausts are purely for audio enhancement. No HP gains are to be found. Well OK, I am after the sound, so that's ok I guess.
But now I read this post about how to disable the fake engine noise in the raptor.
https://www.fordraptorforum.com/threads/active-noise-control-fake-engine-disable-how-to.54067/

So now I am wondering about how people say the aftermarket exhausts are any different if really what you hear in the cabin is the same simulated V8 sound. Sure, the outside may be different - but is it safe to say that from inside the cabin, really the only sound you'll hear is the simulated engine sound?

I know there is no silver bullet here - the reason why so many (like me) were hoping for a V8 to become an option. I am willing to spend some money if there is something that adds some beef - but if it all gets wiped by my radio playing V8 sounds then I can probably use that cash elsewhere.

Call me crazy but I don’t hear the pumped in sound in my 18’ with the B&O system. Not sure if they do it with both or only the Sony. Regardless, you can definitely hear when you change the exhaust. Unfortunately, you are not going to find anything that sounds even close to your current truck.

They only do it with the Sony, not the B&O. 802s don't have it.
wait. What?

it’s not a “simulated v8” sound. it’s an active noise cancellation and an ‘augmented’(?) soundtrack. Honestly, I didn’t think it did too awful much but cover up some miscellaneous creaks, and driveline noise. I turned it off in FORSCAN and it was not that much of a difference.

The negative commentary is mostly from
1) trolls
2) people rationalizing not spending the extra coin on a new model.
3) people married to the idea that trucks have to be powered by a v8
4) people unwilling to give the new model a chance for a fair eval.

Now, that said, the Jenny is not a Jennifer. If sound is more important than acceleration, power, capability - then the Jenny might not be for you. If you’re on a steady diet of oatmeal, metamucil and Depends(™) then the gen2 / Jenny may be a bit too much for you. Like @Jake17.

Just drive the damn truck. That’s the silver bullet.

If you did a catback or axle-back exhaust on most modern cars, you were doing it for audio enhancement, only. Catalytic converter(or delete) and header changes is where you may gain noticeable performance, but then a tune(ECU reprogramming) is required... at that point you may have gained extra power, but you may have lost useful OEM features that can not be duplicated by an aftermarket tune(AFAIK), such as adaptive fuel programming(87-91 octane).

If you think the Gen 2 Raptor's exhaust note is too quiet for your liking, then research exhaust set-ups and choose what sounds best to you. Most OEM vehicle exhaust systems are subdued to begin with and are getting quieter every model year.

For reference, I had a 2011 Mustang GT and swapped the exhaust to a Kooks Catback set-up... loud as f**k! ... leaning towards the obnoxious. Also had Kooks Shortie Headers, but did not install them because of complaints... from family members! Ride was a daily driver and was a little much on longer road trips. It had a bunch of suspension upgrades and rear differential swap, as well. I pretty much introduced a lot of NVH into the car where the engineers had to make compromises to make for a better daily-driven car.

No amount of money spent on exhaust will make a Gen-2 sound like a V8. There is no way to make the V6 sound good. You can make it louder but for most that is not better. Down pipes are typically the bottleneck in turbo exhaust systems. Any performance to be gained in the exhaust will be at that point.

Again, I don't understand why anyone would really care all that much. Would you rather have a truck that sounds badass, or a truck that is badass? The sound of the GEN1 is all it has going for it, and that's the same for any V8. It's not like it sounds like a ricer. JMO.

Jennifer is a quite capable model / year range, Jenny is just newer and shinier. But the point of your post is right; WFC right?
(obviously plenty do care...)
