My truck appears to have a "build date" of 5.27.18 so I may not be able to add lighting. However, Ford does appear to offer an Ambient Lighting kit as an accessory to the F150 and maybe the Raptor. So I may look into that option.
I'm wondering how go know the "build date" of my 2018 SCREW

Baja look at my post above 102. My Shelby Raptor was born around April. Didn’t have the light already in it. Thx for the tips on the hood shake!

Your doesn’t have it they switched it up. Buy the $20 part it’s plug and play under there just have to drop few drops of super glue to hold the light on and your good. Really easy mod takes all of about 20 min.

This will only work (you adding the light and having illuminated letters) if your vehicle does NOT have painted on letters. Mine has painted letters, and if I ordered the part and put in the light I still would not have illuminated letters on the console.

Because yours is translucent. If it is not the light will NOT shine through. Aint gonna happen.

It seems that Ford removed the lighted PRNDM, and it looks like it may have happened in stages during the 2018 production year.

I don't have any particular knowledge on the subject, the below is just based on my observation.

Early 2018's have lighted PRNDM. At some point (SSM 47312 indicates 17 Jan, 2018, production date as the cut off) Ford stopped putting the backlight in place but continued to use the translucent PRNDM equipped trim piece. It would be possible to add the backlighting to these vehicles. At some later point (no date found on that) the center console piece was changed and the letters painted on the console, backlighting these would not be possible at all as originally configured.

My very early March 2018 build 2018 (802 + tech package) has the painted on letters, it simply could not ever be backlit as originally built.

Has anyone confirmed (tried) the backlight on the "painted" letters? It could be translucent paint/ink.

I have a 2018 that was built in April and the PRNDM console lights did not light up. The letter are translucent, and I did the fix last week and all is good now.
