Gen 2 add-a-leaf an option?

Why is the wheel so far to the rear in the wheel opining?

Good question, I just checked the other side and it looks the same. The shop also did an alignment after the job and gave me specs that are within range.

So my guess is that when the bed lifts up, the optics of the wheel well angle make it seem like rear wheel is moving back.

That and it looks like you had a wheel liner in the rear before and not after!

Hey guys,



Towing a 5k trailer all summer has made my rear springs settle quite a bit. I have the RPG 1.5" collars in the front and with the settled rear, my truck is about .75" nose high. It bothers me.



Is an add-a-leaf kit an option for the Raptor? I know they have them for regular F150s. I wheel only 4-5 times a year, so willing to take the downsides of an add-a-leaf or similar setup. Will also take any increased firmness in rear suspension.

OK I just finished a 500 mile trip and have an update on the ride quality - feel absolutely no difference from before, which is good. Happy with the increased height in the back and hopefully some increased stiffness as well for next towing season. All in, just as the gentlemen above pointed out, add a leaf seems like a good option for those that just want better towing capability and height at ~$1000 lower than deavers.

DO you know how much more haul capacity you gained? From another thread, it was mentioned 150-200 pounds. That was with a .449" leaf. Also was the leaf as soft as the ones on the truck or was it a stiffer f150 leaf?

Stock raptor leafs are 0.29 gauge steel. The shop added an extra leaf the third one down of 0.292 steel. It's a decision they made to get optimum rear height and keep factory ride quality as much as possible.

I have no idea about payload, not a concern for me. My objectives were to gain rear height back after stock springs had sagged, and to help with continued towing in future (i.e., prevent sagging again).

Another vote for Deavers here.
Agreed, but I just recently installed the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System for around $230. It basically replaces your stock bump stop with a rubber spring (looks like a bigger bump stop). I tried it out this weekend and it works wonderfully. My ride without a trailer was unaffected and I didn't have any sag or ride issues with a heavy trailer. You will need to take them off if you go off-roading, but for a street queen that is used for towing a trailer, they work great!!!!

Ok guys I got this done. Had my local suspension shop add a leaf and rearch the springs. Cannot speak to ride quality yet I need to put miles first but as far as stance I'm happy with results so far.

Any updates on this solution? Is rear height still the same? Still enjoying the ride quality?
Also, if you don't mind me asking...why did you decide to add a leaf in the first place? It looks like the rear of your truck was already higher than the front in the Before photo..so just curious if it was for another reason, other than ride height?

Good info here.....I'm looking for similar options to improve towing my 7k lb trailer w/ approx. 700 lbs at hitch.

Thinking about going to a Ford dealer just outside Dearborn where I bought the truck and seeing what they suggest for add a leaf type options.
