Duratrac tires

I have run a lot of duratracs, none on a Raptor but on Dodges and Toyotas. My KO2s are getting louder with 20K miles on them, just like duratracs do. Pitfalls of the duratrac are weaker sidewalls than the KO2, higher price and a tendency to cup the edges on the front tires. Regular rotations help but they keep doing it... More than KO2s seem to, though I rotate those every 5k miles with oil changes too. Duratracs probably have an edge in the snow. My KO2s are about half worn and if they are anything like the KO's used to be they blow under half tread in the winter where the duratracs just keep on working with low tread. Not sure which I will go with next on the Raptor. If my low tread KO2s are not cutting it in the early snows I will probably replace them with duatracs.

I had duratrax on my jk, they were just as quiet as the bfg I have now. But holy crap the got a lot louder at 15 K than the bfg mud terrains I replaced them with. I love the look of them vs bfg but I wont be putting them on this truck.

Plus you lose some speed rating with the duratrac tire

Had Duratracs on my wife’s last Jeep JK. Overall good experience with them but not my favorite M/T or more aggressive tire. She now has 315/70R17 Mickey Thompson Deegan 38’s on her Rubicon JK and I prefer them over the Duratracs - especially off road ($259 range for the 315/70R17 Deegan 38’s). The Deegan’s are louder on the road, but any tire this aggressive is and that’s what your volume control on the stereo is for.

I have 35x12.50R20 Mastercraft Courser MXT’s on my Vorsteiner Venom Rex 601’s on the Raptor. They weigh the same as the stock BFG’s plus I had them on my previous truck and only put about 1,500 miles on them so just added them to the Raptor.

I did a little research on a D rated tire and found the mickey Thompson Baja ATZ P3s. They look nasty and they weigh 66lbs. 2 more then stock. Has anyone had experience with these on and off road? Don’t they come on the rousch f150?

So i see some comments saying duratracs are louder than stock and vice versa ?! Whats the verdict guys?

They get louder as they wear. I typically get 50k miles out of them (I'm on my 4th set) which corresponds to the time when my wife says she can't hear the radio...

A friend of mine is on his 2nd set on his 2014 F150. He's had good luck with them. They are pretty equal to Duratracs for the most part. They have the same 100 mph speed rating. They are good in rain, sand and mud for an A/T. With normal rotations they usually last between 40k-50k miles. Looks...they are pretty equal as far as aggressiveness. One area Duratracs are better is in snow.
