BOV stuck open?

So, today I pulled out of a parking lot and the truck would barely move when I pushed the gas - turbo gauge was showing almost max boost though. I thought I had blown an IC hose or something so I got to the right lane and as I was going to pull over the truck started working normally. This has never happened before but it was a bizarre sensation. The only thing I can think of, since now the truck is back to normal is that the BOV got stuck wide open for a minute? This has me thinking an aftermarket BOV maybe in my future.

If you had a loose hose or stuck BOV, no boost would register at all.

The hose slipping off would also be loud as all hell and scare the crap out of you.

Great, even worse lol. Weird that it cleared up. My BOV vents to atmosphere and it was sounding pretty noisy while this was happening which is why I thought it could be stuck open. I did see boost registering on the digital gauge though, that I am certain.

When I first start up my truck I believe it leaves the exhaust valves slightly open to help heat the cats. There are extra flow noises during this process and the throttle is sluggish. At some point this all quits and everything is normal. My Miata does this as well.

Probably opens the BOV on startup to vent any moisture

it is physically impossible to leave the exhaust valves slightly open.

what you mean is spark lead is retarded to delay combustion to raise exhaust gas temps in order to preheat the cats coupled with retarding the exhaust cam to open and close the exhaust valves later (so the heat can escape to the exhaust system better from that retarded spark lead).

at no time are any valves left slightly open, even in your Miata.

Agree. Variable cam time just re-clocks the cam. They still close.
