the walmart comment about things being different has some truth to it but not with oil filters.

Mobil 1 used to (maybe still does) have a walmart specific blend for their 5 quart bottles. This was a few years back.

I use Amsoil synthetics in everything I own including my race cars and either Wix, EA or OEM filters. Wix makes napa. toyota and honda filters are phenomenal. The motorcraft ones are good but are a cellulose media. Which is good, but not for etended drain intervals. Pureolator one looks like a great readily available synthetic, long drain oil filter. The mobile 1 oil filter has the most filter media of any filter for its size ive ever tested. Going to run one of those next with amsoil synthetic at 10k on a gen 2 and do an oil analysis.

No one here is running E85 or any exotic fuels so honestly any synthetic that meets the spec will do. If you're really worried buy an oil analysis. Shit pretty much everyone is running stock turbos still. When RBM engines start popping up we can start the oil pissing matches.

Oil, and oil filter combo

I personally use Mobile 1, full synthetic with a Motorcraft filter. The oil have used in multiple cars and truck for many years without any problems. As far as the filter? I have used many different brands including all the ones mentioned below. So, what's the best? a good quality oil and filter combo you feel confident in.

Motorcraft oil filters are fine for standard drain intervals. But use a cellulose media and not much of it. So using a high drain interval oil is a waste with them. Puolator boss, Mobil 1, wix and amsoil ea all will last as long as a good high drain interval oil like amsoil signature series. Proven for 25k miles or 1 year. But the motorcraft filter will not last as long. Fwiw the Mobil 1 filter has the most amount of filter media I've ever tested.

I have been using K&N filters but might need to give the Mobil 1s a try. I have been seeing positive reviews on multiple forums, including sportscars.

Mobil 1 full synthetic and motocraft filter from walmart. Stuff is cheap out there. U can get a jug of 5 quarts for less than 25.00. For the guys running twin turbos, anyone running valvoline vr1 racing oil? I run this on my turbo gsx due to its high zinc content that helps with turbo bearing longevity. Recomended by forced performance.
