Not completely sure what to do now... I've had my 17 Raptor since January of 2017, and sadly choose to purchase it out of state (I live in California) to get one at MSRP rather than the 25k over dealerships were asking. I say sadly because my truck is a complete lemon by California law but not by Illinois I guess.

I've owned my truck for 17 months and it's been at one dealership or another for 105 days and counting (12 different trips not including regular maintenance). All for the same two issues: transmission gets stuck in 7th gear, and the truck runs hot (235-245 WT).

The dealerships seem to have no control, and the Ford "Hotline" is a massive joke. They told Serramonte Ford to replace the TCM 4 times. They told them that the truck was not overheating and comparing a 2018 Raptor to a 2017 Raptor was not effective because they have different powertrains (this is completely false). They told them to replace the valve body even after the techs asked to replace the transmission. They told Towne Ford to replace a valve body that has already been replaced, per prior “hotline” suggestion.

Not sure what to do or who to call. This truck is truly a Lemon and no one can fix it.

Why doesn't it qualify in IL - be out of service for a total of 30 or more business days

Find a IL lemon law lawyer and follow his or her playbook to a T

I’m really saddened to hear that, but you should really be talking to a lawyer, like 75 days ago, not to the internet.

Decent lemon law lawyers will consult free of charge.

good luck!

I was not aware the lemon law rules are based on where you bought your vehicle versus where you live. I have always bought mine in the state I live, but that is good to know for the future...

Mental note- Don't buy cars from Illinois...

OP - Hope you get resolution. I had to fight this a long time ago with Hyundai.

Over the past year with my 2017 I have also experienced the truck being stuck in 7th gear. The only time it really happens for me is in sport mode and I am pounding through the gears while driving through the mountains. I have to pullover, turn the truck off and open the door to reset the truck. It’s probably happened about 6 times. I was recently annoyed enough by it to contact me dealer. The mechanic hadn’t heard of this issue and emailed Ford. Chances are I won’t ever hear anything back. I have wanted to put a tune on the truck but this has kept me from doing it. I will update if I hear anything.

I wish a transmission issue was what I was dealing with.

in my case, my truck " jumped timing" on the entire DS of the motor.

Still waiting to find out from the dealer how much of a PITA this is going to be.
