GEN 2 Anyone notice how smooth tow/haul mode can be?

I use it a lot without a trailer in the mountains because it keeps the truck from shifting into overdrive while coasting and allows better engine braking.

Does your Whipple Stage 1 change the transmission or is it still the factory transmission tune?

I have tried it for daily use, but switched back to the regular mode due to the strong engine breaking. If I could eliminate the engine breaking, I would probably use tow mode exclusively for daily driving.

It's changed/upgraded with FoMoCo updates since the stock code - over 1200 tweaks applied

Yeah I wonder how well it would work at a dragstrip because the shifts are very short...

Traction control off in tow haul mode is legit, love how peppy the truck is and the truck goes through a smooth rpm range and it slows the truck down when you let off the gas so you don't burn through your breaks when driving fast, I have the TCM tune and it still skips gears in normal and sport mode, I just like the truck going through all the gears they way it does in tow haul mode and when you have a Borla Atak it sounds good too!

I’ve used it for towing. It works as it should.

On its own, it’s like a shot of vitamins. Should be called Haul A$$ mode.

Much different vehicle...different purpose, that being said while it was jointly developed w/ GM I feel like GM has had the greater “tranny building cred” than ford in recent history (not really saying much about either tho hence the JV) -& part of me wonders if GM didn’t hold back a few R&D hardware/software tweaks they learned along the way from previous 6/8 speed trannies....
