We have a trophylite race truck we race in SCORE and BITD (Wild Power Sports #6013) so having a VHF radio in my Raptor was a must. In my first gen, i mounted it overhead flush...super trick.

Here's how I did it in the 2018 we just picked up. Looks factory. Aluminum with 3m carbon fiber wrap. We may come out with a kit with the plate.

Best part is, no holes to drill, no cutting.

Let me know if there's any interest in this guys.

What model radios are you guys all using?

The plate i have setup on the CNC is for the Kenwood TK-790 (Or 790H or 890...all the same head size) which is the standard radio everyone runs for BITD/SCORE.

Is that a 110W remote head Kenwood, or one of the smaller units? I'd like to get my head unit out of the center console so it's easier to adjust the volume or squelch

Looks great BTW.

It should guys.....

Let me finish up the antenna mounts, then get these all into production. Our shop is setup for prootyping, not full scale production....

Also, the antenna mounts I designed come off the 3rd brake light like the others out there, but are totally different. One of them is motorized to allow the antenna to be folded down from inside the truck. There will be a "up/down" switch, and an optional "hot up wire" that works like a car power antenna wire, when you feed it hot it brings up the antenna. So, what i did on the prototype is have it so aux switch 6 is wired into turn the radio on and bring the antenna up. Turn it off, radio goes off antenna goes down. Super trick!

I wanted to see the reaction before I had hundreds cut. Going to try to get these done fast.

Ill keep everyone posted.

Opinions on color for the antenna mount? Im thinking 2 choices. Powder coated flat black or unpainted (So you can paint it any color you want).
