CHEBBY?

Whens The Last time you bought a Chebby with a straight axle ? :~(

Ford and Dodge Offer the SFA , But Nobody offers a 3/4 ton regular cab Short bed...

And the regular cabs need to be 6" longer For Grown Ups :~)

I was Just wondering if anybody was thinking or heard of Any one doing The SFA Swap ?

I Think To be a Real rock or Mud Truck a SFA Is a must... And the Flex of a Raptor RCab With SFA Would be Crazy :~)

Well the Raptor is a real truck alright - just need to know the limits while on rocks or in mud... It will not go the same places you can take a modified Jeep on 35's.

If you have lots of time and even more money, a front end conversion could be done I guess. Although since it would involve rebuilding half the truck - might be easier to swap the cab and box onto a pre-built modified frame/with driveline and tranny/transfer case in place.

For the front axle I'd recommend a Dana 60 (may as well throw a locker in) and using a coil spring/pitman arm setup. Depending on the coil type and setup, you can get some great axle articulation. Ford had a great setup from the late 60's until 1979.

You'll likely want to toughen up the rear as well - if mudding a lot you won't like the axle wrap these stock springs allow. If rocking it - well you want loose springs. You can trade off with an airbag suspension and 4link setup - but depending where you ride - it may not be street legal!

For my preference, I'll keep mine pretty much stock, although i will give it a mild suspension lift someday down the road.

Theres more to it than just throwing a Axle under the truck Now days...

I was reading on the duramax diesel site and they had a little issue with sensors and some other small things....."ABS" was one of the issue to deal with...

I'm sure a tunner could work around most of it though :~)

Good thing the Raptor is fun out the Box!

I Wouldn't mind having that Bronco :~) Buddy of mine had one with 3/4 axles and 40" Ground Hawgs under it,That thing would Go anywhere just about ,lots of good times in that ride ....

Yeah, a 73 "breadbox" Bronco is one truck I've wanted for a long time. I had one briefly that we patched on a 60's Wells Fargo cab over the frame - called it the War Wagon and it went lots of places on 35's, until it took a bad roll down a hill...
That one looks like it had 38" TSL Thornbirds - a really lumpy tire but they worked well in the mud.

In time, kits will come out for the Raptor to mofify suspension and lifting etc. I'm going to wait and see what looks good, or works good, before I do any major mods in that department.

I'm with you on that :~)

I think the Raptor will fit my needs pretty good just like it comes!
But i love to mod my toys

Most people don't have a shop to do this kinda work for their selves, and to pay a shop to do it for you is $10,000 +

Infact i got a price of $16,000 from ORO i think it was ,for a complete kit front and back for one of my other trucks, LOL Thats a Lot of Coors Lights :~)
