I'm new here so forgive me if I'm asking a question that's already been answered. I just bought a 2011 about a month ago and just found out it needs the converters replaced, which the warranty doesn't cover, however, I have a set of flowmaster converters that I bought for my previous truck and never used because I was told they would not pass emissions or supply the back pressure that the truck needs. I would like some input or advice from anyone with aftermarket cats that has to go through emissions testing on whether this is true or not. Thanks

My warranty covered it when one of mine went out. It was a bit of a fight due to my supercharger, but in the end, it was covered.

I fought it, they wouldn't cover it because of the mileage. They said it was a "wear" part and also because it had an electric cutout on it. They offered me a discount on replacing them at the low low price of $2200 plus tax....

That sounds crazy expensive I'd post in the "want to buy" section and see if anyone has some. Or for a little bit more get the green cats from Kooks. Would need their headers as well though

I'm in Chattanooga Tennessee.

I've seen a lot about the kooks stuff here, I'm guessing that's the top shelf stuff. I've been out of high performance thing for a while so I'm not up to date on the best parts. After buying this truck though, I've got the fever again and wanting to get as much as I can out of it.

Mine was going to be $1,700 at the dealer to replace ONE!!

Local decent muffler shop would have replaced BOTH with hi-flow ones for $800.

Still a pretty penny for cats, but WAY better than the dealer.

Seems like Kooks and stainless works are the 2 favorites. I'm still running stock but if I do upgrade I'm going with Kooks headers and their true dual exhaust with the green catted Y pipe.

There are a couple shops around here that will do for $500 but two of them recommend against it because of the emissions and backpressure concerns so I'm skeptical about putting the hi flows on. But I'm guessing none of you guys are having any trouble with the performance of the truck or throwing engine codes, right? Here in Chattanooga, if the service engine light is on, they won't test it and you can't renew your tags until it's fixed.

Most guys will get a tune after exhaust work. But I have heard of people with headers and no tune But the tune (5 star or svc are the front runners) should eliminate any engine codes
