Long story short, this past weekend I popped the 30a fuse protecting upfitter switch #2 when messing with my Viair compressor install.

I noticed right away that the upfitter light still lit, even though the fuse was blown. Duly noted; the amber light in the switch isn't meant to be used to diagnose.

No biggie right? Just go to the auto parts store and get a new fuse and be done with it. Right? Not so fast; I went to three local auto parts stores and came up totally empty. Two of the store's help desk looked at me crosseyed when I put the blown fuse in their hand. Uh oh... do we really have to get these from Ford directly? Might be kinda important to know for those of us who like to disappear into the desert for a few days at a time.

Here's a mostly complete* list of the fuses in our panels (2010 Raptor 5.4. I can't speak for later models or models with the 6.2). I purchased two of each size from my Ford dealer, to make sure I have backups if/when needed. 16 fuses cost me $60, if you can believe that (and that was after the parts guy took pity on me and discounted them a bit from retail, and after looking online I think he REALLY screwed up the discount too :wow:). You might want to stock up/sort this out for yourself, just in case...

(all prices are as per FordParts.com)

PN - Description - Price
6e5z14526aa - 20amp "Blue Square" fuse - $13.98ea (I paid $1.57ea)
6e5z14526ba - 30amp "Pink Square" fuse - $13.98ea (I paid $1.57ea)
6e5z14526ca - 40amp "Green Square" fuse - $18.80ea (I paid $2.11ea)
6e5z14526ea - 60amp "Yellow Square" fuse - $????ea (can't find this pn online anywhere; I paid $1.88ea)
9l3z14526aa - 5amp "Tan Blade" minifuse - $30.00ea (I paid $5.00ea)
9l3z14526ca - 10amp "Red Blade" minifuse - $30.00ea (I paid $5.00ea)
9l3z14526da - 15amp "Blue Blade" minifuse - $30.00ea (I paid $5.00ea)
9l3z14526ea - 20amp "Yellow Blade" minifuse - $30.00ea (I paid $5.00ea)

I have to believe FordParts.com is WAY wrong on their list prices. When you see these bits, you'll be amazed they're even getting $5 for the miniblades; these things look like they should be around 40cents each.

Thought ya might want to know.

*By mostly complete I mean to say that there's one fuse not covered in this list. Its a 25amp fuse used to protect the electrical fans. The parts guy couldn't find it called out on any parts list in Ford's system, although its clearly marked as a 25amp in our owner's manual. The good news, I guess, is that the base is exactly the same as the other 'square' fuses, so I guess if it pops on the trail a 20 or 30 could be used as backup.

Ha! I've been looking for fuses online since I installed my Rigid Industries LED lights.

You can pretty much forget about any stores having anything but a small "variety pack" of miniblades (typically one of each) and they're not cheap.

One of the best I could find so far is this:

Littelfuse RBOX1 Redbox MINI Low Profile Fuse Module

You can find Bussman Female Maxi Fuses here (hey, isn't that the name of a feminine hygiene product?):

I found this box of 120 of them, including the 25A fuse, online for $6 plus shipping. It might be a scam, but probably worth checking.

If you look at the link to the Amazon fuse kit I posted and you read the customer reviews you'll see there was some misinformation originally posted about the quantity of fuses in the package. The one you posted sounds somewhat similar (and the pic looks like the same package). Here's the link to the Amazon listing with the customer reviews:

Pep Boys has the maxi fuses in stock... at least the store by me. The counter guy said they didn't but they had a complete selection in one of the aisles.

You can use regular (cheaper/easy to find) mini fuses in place of the factory micros. They plug in and make the same electrical contact as the stockers. The mini's will stick up a little higher, otherwise theres no adverse affects from using them; you can pull the mini out and go back to a micro just as easy.
