[QUOTE="The Car Stereo Company, post: 593437, member: 7124"] you can get steering wheel controls for aftermarket units, however some features may or may not be available. some vehicles have buttons that can not be reprogrammed bmw is the first one that comes to mind. one button cant be programmed on certain models. all nav units will eventually need map updates. kenwood uses garmin and i think they are free to update. pioneer, alpine, clarion, etc, they all require a disc to purchase for the update. and they do get expensive. around $150-$200 depending on the unit. the aftermarket systems we are talking about are turn by turn navigation systems, very similiar to what you can do on your phone, however, pushing buttons on you nav screen is legal, pushing buttons on your phone is not. and with the audio integrated in the sound system, you arent stuck with trying to hear the directions through the tiny speakers on you phone.
