That's a story within itself. I had a couple of dealers in San Diego at $100 under MSRP and one in Riverside at $300 under. Neither dealers had all the options I wanted, and the RR SE Raptor that was local did. Plus it had a base price $300 lower than everyone else. At the time, I didn't see the build dates. Later I found out that it was an earlier build from May, before the price increase. Not wanting to show all my cards, I asked for $1k under MSRP hoping to get a negotiation close to or slightly above $300 under MSRP. There was a $10k ADM on the truck. The sales dude filled in their mysterious four quadrant sheet of paper with what I wanted to pay and took it to the sales manager. The sales manager came back a few minutes later with red marker ALL over it. His price was $5k above MSRP. I was furious since I was upfront that I would not pay a dime over MSRP and wanted it lower. I cut him off and literally walked out, stating I had another dealer at $300 under. I was on the phone with that dealer before leaving the lot. The sales manager caught me as I was driving off and said he would do $1500 over. No thanks and we left. Half way to the other dealer, the GM called asking how to finish the sale. Long story short, I got the truck at MSRP and two tanks of gas. A rough value of $200 here in California. And it has all the options I wanted with a base price lower than the others. I just kick myself for believing their "employee discount" on the ESP. I paid $2755 for 6 years/100k miles premium care with a $100 deductible. I can get an 8 year, 125k, $0 deductible for less than that. Hence why I want to cancel. Thanks for all your tips and advice.
