Build today ETA march 5..... To the guy changeling his oil, warm your motor up prior to the change, after you remove drain plug, take your fill cap off for a better flow. Syn is the best way to go, much better then Dino oil.

Never thought about that...I guess it would create a vacuum for the oil coming out. Makes sense. And I agree that synthetic oil is the way to go. I've run either Mobil 1 or Royal Purple full synthetic in my Titan since 5,000 miles and I now have almost 60,000 and it's the only part of the truck (knock on wood) that has not given me a problem hahah

Normally, I would say you're fine. But just because you're breaking in a brand new engine (and you're already going to be down there) I'd go ahead and do it. For the future, I'd change the oil every 5000 and the filter every 10,000. I did them both every time I changed my oil every 5,000 before but I think that's just overkill.

You could make the case that motor oil has cancer causing carcinogens and stuff like that. I don't really think it matters doing just a simple oil change. But wearing gloves gives a little bit a barrier from the hot oil and it makes clean-up easier.

I never change my own so if this is bad info somebody tell me but, you should also put some of the new oil in the filter.

I've heard that as well. I believe it's good info, but just hard to do on our trucks since the filter is sideways and not vertical

I've always heard that but I've never done it. People are afraid that you're going to "starve the motor" for a half second before the oil pump can fully kick-in and they're worried about scratching things up inside. In all honesty, no matter how long you leave that drain plug open, it's still going to have some amount of lubrication in there for the half-second that the pump isn't kicking in. I've never done it and never worried about it. If you want to pour a little bit in for good measure then more power to you. I just think it's one extra step that unnecessary.

Well, decided to be a gentleman today and take my girlfriend out to dinner. On the way back, she was dicking around with the music as always... Changing the song non-stop for about 15-25 times repeatedly until she found something she liked. I told her to stop doing that shit like always but she didn't listen like always. Well what do you know. The navigation craps out on me and freezes right after she hits that skip button for the thousandth time. I don't even have a damn wrench to unplug the battery. I'll be lucky if the battery isn't dead by the time I get out of lab. You can believe this is the last time I'm a gentleman.

Bitches always love messing with the radio.

Tell me about it. I find it funny how a few days later when she stops to listen to the song that she's skipped maybe 100 times... she actually realizes that she likes it.

Anyways, good news to report. I left the navigation frozen with the truck off while I was in lab for a good couple hours. Got back and I guess it shut itself off. Started the truck and worked flawlessly.

There is definitely some sort of battery protection on the truck. Works with the interior lights when your gf inevitably leaves those on as well... Glad it didn't leave you stranded!
