Recently we were invited to tag along on a trip over to the UAE while SDHQ Offroad performs an intense 2.5 day transformation on a Ford SVT Raptor. They would install parts like our ICON 3.0 Suspension system, their SDHQ Built products like trophy truck front and rear bumpers, heim steering upgrade & rear bump stop kit, Whipple Supercharger, Deaver springs, and Boatec front and rear fiberglass fenders to name just a few of the many components being installed. This Raptor build was huge and will def be something to follow as we now are waiting for the truck to be painted and some finishing touches. Upon completion they will head out the UAE - Abu Dhabi desert and take some amazing photo's and video footage that we will share with you.....for now here are some high points of the build and trip!

Packed up and ready to head over to the UAE

Will ICON have a bump stop for the Raptor in the near future?

Can't say we wont, but nothing started as of now. We just finished the development stage of the 2.0 Hydraulic Bumpstop and the first kits to be released are toyota and jeep model. One thing I can tell you is the SDHQ built set up is really nice and the install comes out very clean. I would go with that if you are in the market, very nice piece.

Making us focus on the Brabus, ic........were you priveledged enough to take a ride in it? I had taken a ride in a friends of my uncles while I was up in Atlanta and them things are sick! Put it this way, if I had a regular Ferrari f430, I would trade it for a Brabus CLS Rocket ANYDAY !
Is that the Brabus Rocket V12 800HP/1047tq.?? With the max 230Mph, VERY RARE much less a Brabus?? I didn't see the wing, made me wonder.
Dubai is def. on my bucket list!

Glad to see you guys made a great turn out. How are the icons compared to its competitors? Are they engineered any different? True 3.0" O.D.?
Thanks!

For the first part of your question there was quite the thrill ride taken.....including breaking the wheels loose like it was nothing at 90mph and hitting about 150mph seconds later. That is one of the craziest cars I have riding in. The power put you in your seat and gave you that tingle in your stomach. Not sure the exact motor but it was twin turbo and had to have been a V12 in my book. Here is a pic of the motor, maybe you know more.

Moving on to the shocks / suspension they are actually very different and yes a true 3.0 not only in body but internally as well.....here is all the info on our shocks and upper arms combined. Take this info and compare them to the competition and see what you think. We will have good video comparison to show our suspension vs. the stock oem very soon.....keep an eye out for that as well.

The engineers at ICON Vehicle Dynamics took a different approach to position sensitive performance in our 3.0 front coil over shock. Instead of bypassing a small internal piston at the cost of poor control, road holding, and cornering like a traditional internal position sensitive shock, our shock starts with a true 3” main piston that has robust features such as digressive rebound and flutter stack compression. This combination produces outstanding control, great response, and unparalleled ride performance. To achieve even more control for extreme off-road use, we added an additional internal hydraulic system (much like an external mounted hydraulic bumpstop) that produces the extreme forces required during the last 40% of travel to achieve maximum bottom out control. These multiple stages of compression and rebound have been tuned independently to maximize overall performance of the Ford SVT Raptor front suspension. For owners who wish to optimize the ride specific to his or her liking, the front coil-over shocks are equipped with an external, “Easy to Adjust” Compression Damping Control Valve, that is effective for the entire stroke of the shock. This compression adjustment valve offers you 10 high resolution settings, each bringing a true feel difference from soft to firm.

Our Rear ZETA Ford SVT Raptor Shocks are a true 3.0” (inside and out), three tube External Bypass shock. These are far from the norm when compared to a traditional bypass shock you see on Trophy Trucks and other off-road race vehicles. Each bypass valve has a specific port design and individually equipped with a different spring rate to ensure proper performance at each zone of shock travel. These same bypass valves feature dampened valve stops for quiet and precise operation. That means no clicking noises as you hit bumps or road chatter driving down the road. The biggest difference in these shocks versus an industry standard bypass shock, are the “Easy-to-Adjust” knobs and the replaceable bypass tubes. The “Easy to Adjust” Hi Resolution Clicker Knobs do not require any tools for adjustment, and can be adjusted in seconds from plush off-road performance to firm on road manners for extra control while driving the mountains or towing a trailer. Another unique feature of this shock is the replaceable bypass tubes that can be swapped out during a standard rebuild if any damage were to occur, where a normal bypass shock body would need to be completely replaced, saving you hundreds of dollars.

The billet aluminum arms use 1” Teflon Lined all Stainless Uniballs combined with our 17-4 Stainless Taper Pin Adapters to increase the upper arms misalignment, allowing for smooth and clean bump and droop wheel travel without worrying about factory ball joint bind. You can maximize your available wheel travel by adding a set of our 3.0 Ford Raptor Remote reservoir Coil Over Shocks. This Billet Aluminum Uniball Upper Control Arm with our ICON 3.0 Coil Over Shocks will make a huge increase in the performance and handling of your Ford Raptor SVT. Unique to no other Raptor Upper Control Arm on the market to have on vehicle adjustable rod ends to allow for easy alignment adjustment in minutes not hours. That means no taking the arms on and off to adjust them you simply loosen the pinch bolts, adjust to your liking, and re-tighten the the pinch bolts. Our upper control arm system also has a o-ring sealed cover cap to keep dirt and weather elements from collecting on top of the uniball, which ultimately leads to tearing up the teflon liner causing you to replace them prematurely.
