Trying to do the mid perch mod, got one side completed but can't get the blue aluminum ring slid up on the second one. Has anyone else had this issue and how did you get it freed up? Have a 2010 and seems to be a lot of corrosion or rust preventing me from sliding it up. I have tried liquid wrench etc, wrong or right, and have not gotten it to break loose would appreciate any advice. Also tried to pound on it with a board as to not completely scuff it up with no luck. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

try a rubber mallet. is the shock off the truck? it makes it a whole lot easier if it is. trying to break loose corrosion and rust from an awkward position makes for a difficult time.

I used a coil compressor from auto zone so the coil is not resting on the blue ring. I also tried a rubber mallet and also hammer on a wood board and could still not get it. First one was difficult but not this bad.

If you have time you can try putting it in the freezer over night. What penetrating oil are you using?

Put what in the freezer? I started with WD40, no luck, tried Sea Foam Deep Creep and same results

Did you let it soak for a while or tap on the part to let it work in?
Put the whole shock in. We have an old freezer in the shop we put pressed parts in all the time.

Also can you post a pic of the corrosion your talking about

Have not tried putting it in a freezer, could try it but have not taken one completely off so not sure how difficult it would be. Here is a pic of what I am working withimage.jpgimage.jpg. Let me know if the pic doesn't come through

Do you have a large pipe wrench? If so you could try to spin it to break it loose. Or if you brave a light acid (Aliuma bright or something similar) maybe to dissolve the corrosion. But I would do your own research on that option.

If you could find the right board you could try to lower your Jack and use the weight of the truck to push it up.
