I’ve got half the install done on the front. Drivers side is in with the gen 1 spring and gen 1 top hat/ shims. No clearance issues full extended. I will post pictures later. The UCA is close to the spring when fully extended but I could still fit a finger in between.

The full extension is being limited by your cv's binding. Take it off road and you will see that the uca crashes into the spring and the cv's will get killed by the binding
I would 100% run limiting straps
Sorry to be the party crasher, i want them to work as much as the next guy, but the fact is they are too long.
How much too long?? Nobody will post the measurements! Come on can someone bust out a tape measure

Alright guys, I’ve got an odd scenario where I don’t have a clearance issue on the drivers side but do on the passenger side. Wondering if I might have installed a shim wrong. Tearing the drivers side back apart. I’ll let everyone know

Your prob righ, the gen 2 shock is 2” longer 28-3/4” vs 26-3/4”

Thanks for that. 2 inches is not too bad. However 1000% if i install i will also put a limiting strap (to oe gen1 length)

After a 12 hour day and fixing/ fighting through some issues the gen 2 shocks are in the front. Full Disclosure: at full length they will hit the spring. My first post said it would not, that was before I figured out the previous owner had installed the factory shims wrong on the drivers side which in turn caused the UCA not to hit the spring, but caused the spring to hit the shock body. With that all sorted they do hit at full length.

First impressions driving on road, but roads in Atlanta, so technically probably as bad as most gravel roads are. They are much more compliant then the Gen 1 shocks set at the bottom perch. (I never went mid perch)

I ended up using the new factory top hats that were supplied with the Gen 2 shocks and knocking the studs out of the Gen 1 hats and swapping them over for the longer length. Other than that its a fairly straight forward install if you don't run into any issues. I was able to do it myself with spring compressors, jack, jack stands, a few sockets and a ratchet strap setup. Its time consuming but so far worth it.

Also the front and rear are just about even now. front is 42" to the bottom of the fender and the rear is 42.5" to the bottom of the fender.

In the future I will more than likely run this setup with a limiting strap.

great job!!!!!! I do think we need a step by step. lol also would be great to see a picture of the UCA at fill length where it touches the spring. Thinking an aftermarket UCA might clear?

I took more pics but the lighting really sucked. I am going to try an aftermarket UCA just not sure which one yet

Soon as i read the final fit post, its the first thing i started doing also. lol That is why i was asking for the pic showing it touching..... and wondered exactly where it was happening. Also, to see how much it was in contact before it would stop its travel... if that makes sense.

This is fantastic innovation. I'd like to know how they work out after some offroad testing with a limit strap in place. Great Work so far!
