On mid perch the Geiser springs will ride a little stiffer than stock, less nose dive while hard braking, firmer feel on corners. Off road they feel softer, kind of like going to Deavers in the rear felt like. IMO they are worth the cost, not 3.0’s but definitely better than stock.

After some more thought, research and beer, I think I have this progressive spring thing figured out and can answer some of my own questions.

How are Geiser springs stiffer?
When at ride height and under the weight of the truck, Geiser springs will be into a “stiff zone” equal to the weight of the truck. I assume that Geiser spring rate at ride height is stiffer than stock to improve bottoming resistance.

How are they more compliant over small bumps?
When you hit a bump with stock springs, the amount of force input to move the shock X inches up, is also the same amount of output force for the shock to return to its normal position. As I stated before, think of a linear graph for both compression and rebound.
When you hit a bump with Geiser springs, the amount of force needed to move X inches will not be linear. Think, of a progressive graph. So if you take a jump and all 4 are off the ground, instead of landing on a 550 lb spring then a 1100 spring then a 2200 spring, you would be landing on a softer spring, then a little firmer spring, then a firmer, so on and so forth.

To me the benefits of progressive shocks will be most noticeable if you are working the shocks and utilizing the full stroke because you would be getting a softer spring rate when they are fully extended, and a stiffer spring rate when they are fully compressed.


This might be obvious to some, but I’ve finally been able to wrap my head around what to expect out of these springs. Waiting to hear a good review, but I think I’m on board.

I am not an engineer, I am not an expert, I am probably wrong.

Just a bit stiffer, not harsh IMO. I don’t think shutter is completely eliminated but is lessened, again I had mine at midperch. And you are correct, the biggest felt difference will be when your using the full shock stroke such as when off-roading. They give a much softer ride off-road than the stock springs do.

Interesting. I actually liked the off road feel of stock springs on mid perch, but the day to day driving was horrid. Lots of shoddy patch and seal in Houston, I would prefer dirt roads.

Interesting. I actually liked the off road feel of stock springs on mid perch, but the day to day driving was horrid. Lots of shoddy patch and seal in Houston, I would prefer dirt roads.

Just installed the Geiser springs, and new Fox 2.5's set on bottom perch, been 1 week since install, and I can't get over how much of a difference there is from stock springs just with on road manners, my original set up was mid perch on 2.5's... First thing I noticed was no more bump steer, then when driving on bad and uneven roads the small hits don't transmit to the steering wheel any more, my truck is my DD, and 95% on road. Now driving you can really see and feel how the back end of the truck sucks, with the back end kicking in certain conditions, now I see and understand with this small mod what others have stated, the front out drives the rear, there not kidding, next step for me is deaver +3 with shackles and bump stops, onec i find a sweet deal on them.

I came very close to pulling the trigger on 3.0's, but changed my mind, not because it was more suspension than I need, but watching then get murdered from the winters and road salt here in jersey, would of broke my heart to see awesome shocks killed buy weather and salt, over being used as they were designed for.

NOTE# I degassed the new shocks, and added schrader valves, recharged to 200psi, the factory nitrogen pellets suck and fail faster than they should causing shock failure.

Glad to hear good things. I'll probably follow your path in a month or so after it could down enough to work outside.

I just installed Geisers and rebuilt shocks. Just to level set, my original setup was 2011 SCREW with stock shocks with stock coils at mid perch and Deaver +2 rear springs. Shocks also had 60K miles but didn't show signs of leaking so i am assuming they were still working properly. (not sure what blown shocks feel like). Current set up is Rebuilt OEM shocks with flutter stack (rebuilt by Alltech Motorsports), Geiser coils on mid perch. I gained about 1.5 inches of height compared to the stock springs at mid, but i'm sure they've settle a bit since the install. Installed 2 weeks ago but have yet to check the height again. The above posts are spot on. Small bumps, pot holes, man hole covers and even a decent forest service road feels great. I haven't done any heavy off-roading or any high speed bumps although the speed bump behind costco at 40mph didn't phase the truck at all. This is my DD as well and i don't feel like its any stiffer than stock, if anything maybe a little softer. it seems to dive a little bit under hard braking but honestly i can't remember how it was before the swap. But either way, 2.5 hour highway drives and quick runs to work or the store are great. the normal small bumps you encounter on the road are completely soaked up and since thats most of my driving, this was a win for me.

25-26 Days now with the geiser springs, still very happy with the way the springs perform, but not happy with the how much they settled, install they were at 42" for a little over a week, they are now at 41", never would of thought 1" lose, 1/4-1/2 maybe but not 1". looks like I'm going back to mid perch, I hope they still perform the same as they been, and not settle even more. I will definitely check my shock pressure before moving perch.

I’m at mid perch and after 2 weeks I’m at 42.5. It’s a bit higher than the back but i think going to low perch will be too low. I’ll keep them at mid and keep the trophy truck look. Ride is still great even at mid
