I have just put a set of front fox 3.0 on my truck 2 weeks ago and ever since then I have noticed a clunk sound that seems to be coming from the shocks. What could this be and how to fix it. The shocks ride great but it just doesn't sound right. Ball joints are all good and have a brand new rack and pinion. Sounds like something is loose. Does anyone else have the same problem or point me to an old thread. A little disappointed if I have to send the shocks back to get fixed right out of the box. Am I just being paranoid?

First thing I would check is your lower shock bolt....Unless you get it torqued properly, 406 foot pounds, I believe, you will get a clunk!

That's what I was thinking too and I could only get it to 260 (as high as my wrench will go) so I took it to a shop and had them torque it to the 406 and it is still doing it ...that is if they did actually torque it.

I think I have the same problem. Notice it going over speedbumps/curbs, etc. Don't notice it offroad, but usually offroad everything is clunking. I'm going to mount the gopro under there and see if I can see anything. I had the same issue with torquing the lower bolt and did the same as you.

I saw a post of someone that thought it was the lower shock bolt inside the steel bushing and he put in poly bushing or something and it stopped but I can't find the post again. Or maybe a sleeve between the two. I have no clue as where to find something like that to fit right. Called fox about it and they said they have never heard of that problem.

So I think I found the issue!!! I took the shocks off and the upper bushing on the top hat has a lot of play in it. It is rubber but I can move it around more than I think it should and I'm pretty sure that's what it is. Put the old ones back on and the sound is gone. Haven't talked to fox yet but if the say it's normal then I will be selling these shocks if anyone is interested.

Check the top hat bushing that was the only thing I could find that has excessive play... Good luck.

Fox says there shouldn't be any play with the bushings and they will fix it on warranty. They will cover cost to fix and shipping back to me but I have to cover cost to ship it to them. I'm going to take a video of the play and sent to them first to make sure they will fix it cause if it's normal and the bushing is fine I have to cover shipping back to me too. Kinda wish I woulda stuck with my first choice and got the king 3.0s
