I would think it's about 1/4 of the total travel, towards the bottom or the fill valve.. Once you fill the fluid and put the internal bypass and shaft assembly back in, charge and bleed it, the ifp would be about in the middle of its travel

Why not just answer then? I've read this thread and it's unclear to me, hence why I asked again.

1/8 inch from bottom of the snap ring is what I do. Fox does not preset the shocks so you presetting the shocks is just a good idea not required per fox.

Around 1/8 is what you want.

As lynx said 1/4 inch works. Not 1/4 of the travel.

Makes no sense to me. I know you've rebuilt a lot of shocks, but 1/4" from the snap ring? When you charge, and the shaft pops out, won't the piston be bottomed out against the snap ring? Seems to me that the fluid would not even be under pressure because the piston will have no travel left
