As most of you know by now, I use my truck for work by hauling gear from coast to coast (just passed 126,000 miles). Currently, with the camper shell and an empty truck vault, she is weighing in at 6800 lbs. While the attached picture shows an extreme situation, the truck prior to hooking up the trailer was 8200 lbs (200 lbs over the factory maximum). The total weight was 11,700 lbs (2,300 lbs under the factory max).

So what I would like to do is beef up the rear suspension of the truck to support a weight of approximately 7,500 lbs. and shift the remaining weight to a dual axel enclosed trailer.

I am thinking airbags because it allows me to justify adding onboard air to the truck, but I have a few questions...
- what makes an airbag "Raptor" specific?
- when looking at the capacity of the airbag, do I need to calculate the weight
distribution between both rear tires?

Can you, my good forum friends, provide some feedback/experiences on my direction?
