Ford recently introduced a new version of the Ranger in most international markets, but it won't be sold in the United States. Ford is giving up the small pickup market to its two top rivals: Toyota Motor and General Motors . Toyota offers the Tacoma in the midsize truck segment, and GM is planning to reintroduce the Chevy Colorado midsize truck (and its close cousin, the GMC Canyon) next year.

The question: Was this a wise decision by Ford?

I always thought the Ranger was a great truck that served a niche for those that did not want or need the F-150...

Oh 6.2...

My dad has a ranger and has held up pretty darn good close to 200k miles. However I feel like every small pest control or pool company in florida has a ranger. Lmao

I know Ford's concern was that it would detract from F150 sales and that it is only a little bit smaller than the F150. If they wanted to bring it back it they should name it the F100, then it still counts under F-Series sales.

Here it is next to a Ram.

Yeah, the uproar over not being able to buy the Ranger here in the US has been deafening. Haven't you heard it?! :happy175:

That lone voice you've heard is that of 6.2 who has made this his 2nd home :dancingpoop:

i dont think there is a need unless they give it an ecoboost or diesel that gets really good mpg, like close to 30 or so. a pickup/commuter would be great. then i think they got one up on the market

o and i totally agree they should name it the F100, and ditch the gay ranger name.....*nudge 6.2*

New design: no... Old design: yes.

Plus side is if you own one you are now in the "ranger club" and can get $1k ford cash bonus towards the purchase of a new vehicle. Lol

As you may be able to tell by that Ram(scoff) comparison, the Aussie Ranger is significantly bigger than the outgoing US Ranger. I completely agree with calling it a F-100. Would fit in the line-up perfectly. You could even have a trim package called Ranger. Though I do admit it needs a little front end work.

Have at you!
